I just picked up a Sig mosquito, love the way the gun feels haven't shot it yet, the one I got is threaded for q suppressor, look on a couple of other gun forum's the feed back seems about 50/50, slot of people seem to be talking about the first ones that came out, I have a ruger22/45, love the gun, but I was wondering if any of yall could tell me experience you've had with the skeeter and what kind of ammo does it like, I put the standard recoil spring in it, it also has high velocity spring also , I hope it will like the Remington sub-sonics being as I'm going to put a suppressor on it, or should have I've gotten another walther p-22 with a threaded barrel , I just don't like the small grips, my hands swallow them, thanks for the feedback, God bless!

My Skeeter that i bought in 07 will feed CCI mini mags 90% of the time. WHen i switch over to cheap ammo like Remington Thunderbolt it drops to around 60-70%. The problems i encounter are failure to feed and extract. I have tried using both of the springs.

I would suggest running several types of ammo to see what kind your gun runs best with.

Wasn't very impressed with the skeeter that I purchased. It was only reliable using Mini-mags and the accuracy was terrible. With sub-sonics???? I think you'll end up with a single-shot pistol.

I will agree with you that it feels great in the hand. Unfortunately, for me, that's the only thing it did well. Sold it after 6 months and got a Ruger.

I must be the exception that proves the rule. I bought a Mosquito and it functions well on everything I've fed it, so far.
This is not the "top notch" type of .22 handgun that I would say the Browning Buck Mark or Ruger MK II or III is, it's actually more like the Walther P22 in construction. But having said that mine is working, and I like the fact it replicates the larger Sigs at maybe 4/5th the scale or so.

I've shot a lot of cheap Federal through mine with no problem. If you're going to send a lot of rounds downrange during one range trip be sure to take some gun cleaning items along. The cheap 22 ammo is dirty and my Mosquito starts to choke up after 80 or 90 rounds. No big deal. Just clean the feed ramp a little and you're back in business.

The sights are horrible. Forget trying to be accurate like you could be with a Ruger. The Mosquito was designed to mimic a full size Sig handgun, thereby making it a good way for new shooters to become familiar with full size Sig weapons. All the controls are the same. Does it do anything else well? Probably not.

If you don't mind the occasional ftf and aren't concerned with real accuracy you'll like the gun.

My Mosquito was unreliable from day 1, it would hardly shoot anything other than CCI mini mags. Traded it, bought a Ruger Mark III, and I've been a happy camper ever since!

I went to the range after work today and a young guy was peppering the target with what I knew by the report to be a .22.
Got to talking with him and sure enough it was a Sig Mosquito.
He had one of those Federal 333 bricks sitting on the table and I never really saw it malfunction.
I know zero about this pistol.

I recommend putting the light spring in it, and then shoot 5-600 rounds of mini-mags to break it in, while keeping it well oiled. Then grease the frame rails and try Federal Auto-Match. They sell it in 325 round packs at wal mart. Mine runs really well on those.

two friends have jam-o-matic mosquitos.

i'm starting to think that with ANY rimfire pistol, it's totally a crapshoot as to whether you get one that works fine with everything or not. i've seen examples of jam-o-matics of every make and model.

i have a 22/45 that works. i hate what a PITA it is to clean, but given that it feeds and ejects anything reliably, i'll stick with it. probably just got lucky.

I have a Sig Mosquito with a Ghost suppressor. Shooting without the suppressor I use CCI mini mags and never had a problem. I was at the range last week and shot a couple boxes of the remmington subsonic with suppressor on and didn't have any problems. Love the sound (or lack thereof) of the subsonic rounds.
