this weekend, SIG has a cool 18 wheeler trailer rigged up as a 3 bay shooting range over at KTP, they have a selection of their 9mm handguns and a couple 9mm rifles, as well as a .300 BLK rifle (w/ suppressor) available to try out, 5 rounds each, choice of 2 firearms

Of course, having never shot a suppressed firearm, I chose the two w/ cans ;)

I *LOVED* the .300BLK AR, but this is the handgun forum, so on to the handgun in question

I'm not actually sure which SIG it was, it was a 9mm with can, alloy frame, exposed hammer, SA/DA, listed as one of their "carry" series, it looked like the 226 Mk 25 in the catalog.

First off, the good; the suppressor really quieted down the gun, down to about .22LR volume, the ergos were nice, and the trigger pull was crisp, recoil? What recoil? Softest shooting 9mm I've shot yet, amazing recoil management!

Now, the bad; the suppressor blocked the front sight, so aiming was basically hoping, the suppressor badly threw off the balance, making it extremely muzzle- heavy, the frame added no weight to steady the gun, the trigger pull in DA was long, heavy and gritty, and also spongy, the reset was long and gritty, and had no tactile or audible feedback, overall I was not impressed, but it's not fair to pass judgement on a demo firearm designed to mainly show off the suppressor with only 5 rounds.

Compared to my CZ-75, there was no real comparison, the CZ handily beat the demo SIG in all areas but the ability to use a suppressor, the ergos were better, DA pull is smoother, no mush or grit, SA pull is crisp and light, and the reset is shorter *and* has audible and tactile feedback

Swap in a threaded barrel in my CZ and it'd be no comparison at all

Don't get me wrong, not badmouthing SIG here, I like their guns, especially their 1911's, but that one particular demo gun just didn't do it for me, but to be honest, I mainly tried it so I could put a tick in the box of "has shot suppressed handgun" in my shooting experiences

I think the Sigs that come with threaded barrels all have raised sights, probably just a gun they use to demo the suppressor more than anything. The suppressed 320 I tried had raised sights. CZ makes a 75 w/ threaded barrel and raised sights. For 2017 I think they have a few more models w/ threaded barrels.

I'm not crazy about Sig hammer guns these days. I have a few CZs, great guns for a good price, but they aren't nearly as good as the Sphinx clones from Switzerland IMO.

We have a Sig Demo day coming up soon, I'm hoping they have a P225 A1 to try. Wouldn't mind shooting the 320 w/ a suppressor either. Their 1911s don't interest me. I looked at one today that was around $1300 or so and it just didn't feel like it was worth it at all. Had a firing pin safety, somewhat sloppy fit/finish compared to my DW Valor I paid just a little more for, and is just a much higher quality gun.

Sig definitely hit a home run with the 320. Even as someone who doesn't really care for Sigs might appreciate it. I do, I ordered one. :p

It's too bad about the trigger on that one. Sig P series guns can have DA/SA triggers as good as anything out there, my P226 got worked over by Grayguns and is outstanding. From the factory it was decent (not what you described), just a bit heavy with a longer reset.

Eh, if it's a "carry" series, it's not a MK-25. The Carry models have shorter barrels than the full-size 220/226/227 series pistols.

And if it didn't come from the factory as a pistol to be suppressed, it didn't have a raised front sight, hence, of course the can would block the front sight. Certainly shouldn't count as a "bad" ...

Never, ever shot any CZ-75 with a better DA trigger pull than any SIG P-series pistols, and the recent production SIGs have far better SA pulls than any CZs (I've owned upwards of 10 CZ-75/85 pistols, and I love CZs), and while I appreciate the CZ design's ergonomics, sure can't say it "handily beats" the SIG's ergos. Certainly, CZs can't even begin to touch SIG's SRT triggers or the Legion series Gray Guns triggers.

Ya, I handled a P226 SAO Legion not to long ago, and it without a doubt had the best factory trigger I've ever felt on a handgun, including 1911s that cost over twice as much.

I have a 226 Legion SAO. The trigger is good, but in no way is it better than some of the hand fitted 1911s out there. It's better than a Sig 1911 trigger, I'll give it that.

I used to be lucky enough to live near the Seacaost in New Hampshire, and used to go over the bridge to shop at the Kittery Trading Post.in Maine. I bought my first BHP there....happy memories. Of course, I was never there when SIG brought a mobile range!
Unfortunately I live in New York now, so all discussions of suppressors, etc are in the 'dream-only' area for me.
I also love my CZ's....

Not all threaded barrel SIGs come with taller sights. My P220 Combat TB came with regular sights that get blocked by the silencer.
