I was set on the P229 (9mm), till i've been getting lots of sticker-shock lately.

It seems that the the P2022 (9mm) would be my alternative ($$) costwise.

Would I be giving up a whole lot or would I like what i have? I need it for Home/self defense. I'm keen on the sig quality over some of the other "plastic" guns.

I was hoping some of the Sig guys can help. Thanks.

I have both. The 2022 is a great gun, and if you shop around, they can be a great buy. Mine has never had a problem, and it is plenty accurate. I wouldn't feel bad if the 2022 was my only gun, but the 229 is my favorite.

I have a 2022 in .40 S&W. I love it! The 229 is definitely going to feel higher quality but for the price the 2022 is a great gun.

Have you considered the XD-M?

I know you are hooked on the Sig-But the new XD-M is the Best 9mm I have ever owned. As I have stated in earlier posts, After I purchased the first one I was so impressed I bought a second one three weeks later. I now own two of them. The 19rd mags are nice. But the Best features are the Total Reliability, Accuracy and the Trigger is Very Crisp with a Quick Reset. I Wish you the Best in Your Search!

The Best to You and Yours!

Frank

PS-I forgot to metion the two XD-M's I have Never a Failure of any type-Approx 700rds for one and 400 rds for the other.

Love my 2022 9mm

I went with the 9mm for ammo cost and it was way under 500 bucks when I got mine.....I have put over 500 rounds through it.
From NATO 124 grain to 147 grain .....all without a FTF:)
