Hi y'all...
I'm going to buy a new HD/CC weapon within the next two weeks or so. I own a CZ 97B (a tack driver, but too large for me to carry it concealed)and have had only one problem in 5000+ rounds, a stripped barrel bushing thread. My experience with their customer service was excellent.
All this considered, I'm a believer in CZ quality. The 75D Compact PCR fits my needs. My local range had a 75B Compact (not PCR) rental so I have had an opportunity to test drive one.
Now for **ahem** a confession. I've shot only one SIG product (I know, I know, I've been remiss in my education). A guy at the range had a P232, and I shot his out of curiosity. I wasn't critically evaluating it for purchase but
I was impressed. I've never heard anything negative about SIG products, just like I've never heard anything bad about the PCR.
I just bought my daughter a S&W MP .40c (her choice) and I liked it a lot, but we didn't test a SIG...again, her choice, plus we thought you couldn't get a new SIG in the same price range as the M&P.
I've just been reading reviews on the SIG P2022 and it looks like a good value. Does anyone have experience with these two in order to render an informed opinion? My guys at the range don't have a rental but might be able to put me in contact with an owner if I decide I want to shoot one. If I decide on the SIG I'll probably buy a PCR at some point in the future anyway (for my CZ collection), I'd just like to know if you think the P2022 is worth a serious look. I'm open minded (about this, anyway).

Thanks

I had a Sig Pro 2022 in .40 S&W. It was a bit too wide for my hands which made firing DA a chore. Other than that it was a good gun. I sold it and bought a CZ 75B SA which is the best pistol that I've owned to date. My next will be the PCR with the new recurve trigger. Angus at Ghost Productions sells his CZs at about $100 less than what is posted on the CZUSA page and his shipping is included in the price.

I have had a sig 2022 9mm for about a year now. great gun. I have taken a couple of multi day classes with it and it has never had a problem. The instructors love it.

It is a little large for cc, i think. But it comes with different size backstraps and that makes for a nice fit.

I think it may soon be discontinued.

In my opinion, the SP2022 is the most underrated handgun that SIG Sauer sells - probably because of the price and the polymer frame (most SIG purists only seem to want/like alloy frames). The grip is a subjective thing (though do note the post about the backstraps above), but it does have an amazing trigger. The SP2022 does everything the USP Compact does at a much more attractive price.

I'm also considering an SP2022 to go alongside my P229 so I can have a "range beater" and occasional 9 mm carry weapon. That said, in the poll I started a lot of people have recommended the CZ75, which I haven't tried out yet - can't tell you how the two compare. Going by personal experience (SP2022) and external feedback (CZ75) alone, I'd say both are excellent handguns and neither would be a poor choice.

Do note that the SP2022 is supposedly due to be discontinued in the US market (just like the P228 that we all love so dearly!) soon, so if you're thinking of buying one, think fast. :)

I have 13 Sig handguns including a 2022 and love them all. I also have a PCR and as you mentioned is fantastic as well. For some reason the ergonomics of the CZ just seem a bit better for me and it appears slightly smaller than the Sig thus making it easier to conceal. I think the problem you have is you are trying to choose between 2 almost perfect guns so it is probably going to come down to whichever one you personally like the feel of better. I believe both will be about as reliable as you can get. Not a bad problem to have. ;)

Have shot a few sigs, though not the one in question. Looks attractive, thats all I can contribute. I can however give you a +1 vote for the PCR. I love mine. Beautiful, Hicap, good ergonomics. Want to put some night sights and then mine will be just perfect.

I don't own a 2022, but I do own a P228, so take this with a grain of salt. I find the PCR to be among the best all around 9MM pistols. Its great for range work and carry. Its my daily CCW has been 100% relaible and very accurate. It also accepts the CZ Kadet Kit .22LR conversion and its a blast with that installed. I prefer it to the P228, but can't comment on the direct comparison to the 2022.

Sig 2022 vs PCR...

From somebody that owns five CZs and a SIG-229, I would have to say the SP-2022 is one hell-uva value and as a SIG, a super gun... only problem as I see it, for you, it seems alittle too large for a CCW/HP gun. My P229 is a VERY accurate, and needless to say, a very dependable gun. However, its size is the LIMIT for CCW/HP... looked at the P226 first, great gun, just too large for CCW (for me). Looked at/held the 2022 (didn't fire one) its a SIG!... made great, looks great, its a POLYMER... and I believe since its a discontinued model, its being sold as low as $459 (still expensive, but CHEAP for a NIB SIG!). As a CZer I would definitely buy the 75D PCR... shot it , loved it but wound up buying the newer P-01, a phenomonal gun!!... Been told by several LEOs who have tested the PCR, IT'S DEAD ACCURATE along with a super-high reliability rating... gonna get one soon, either that or your 97B!
The PCR and SP2022 are gonna be real close in $$... but there's just something about that 'heavy, all metal feel' of a CZ... that's why I love 'em!!

Thanks for all the input.

I didn't know that there is a .22 Kadet kit for the compact. That's a big plus and probably the tipping point of the scales. My only .22 autoloader right now is a Walther P22. I trained my kids with it, then kept it for myself because it's a good gun and fun to shoot. However, if I can shoot a PCR .22 then I'll retire the Walther to the ol' tacklebox to be my fishing gun. (We've got a lot of snakes around here, and every now and then you have to straighten one out. Plus, it can be used to issue a coup de grace to a really big catfish or to subdue an unruly turtle.)

Even though I'll keep the Walther, I probably won't shoot it anywhere near as much as I have in the past. I'm good at rationalizing why I shouldn't get rid of a gun I've replaced. I haven't sold one yet though I did trade a Makarov for a SW 36. Is that a bad thing? I could be addicted to worse things, I guess.

I looked at the P-01 first but liked the PCR more. The balance felt better...maybe that was psychological, though, due to the different profile caused by the rail on the P-01. I definitely prefer the Novak sights on the PCR.

Again, thanks for the help. I guess I'll get me hence to Larry's to unburden his CZ inventory.

That PCR is just a great gun!!... All I keep hearing about it is its ACCURACY... and we already know about CZ's quality and reliability.
RESTORER, I don't think there's any way in this world you'd go wrong, or be disappointed, with that buy-decision! Good Luck.

I am late to help out with the decision, but I have a PCR and I can't get enough of it. Has been flawlessly reliable so far, is about the perfect size for a service-ish sized conceal carry gun, and feels excellent in the hands. Good call on it, though a P2022 would have been an excellent choice as well. Guess one lesser known superb pistol beat out another lesser known great pistol.

Is the Mossberg getting lonely? :D I wouldn't rule out those 600$ USP compacts that Larry's had.

The CZ PCR looks sexy, but I ended up with a P-01. The main difference is the squared-off muzzle end on the P-01, compared to the rounded-off muzzle end on the PCR (as far as I know). I got the P-01 because it was locally available.

I am happy with my choice, knowing that I can attach an accessory light to it for nighttime home-defense protection. In any case, both the PCR and the P-01 are excellent guns, I am sure.

Ah, no, Juk, Mossbergs don't get lonely, they get the job done. But if I can figure out a way to get the rifle sights on it maybe it won't feel neglected.:neener:
Betcha I can get Larry's USP for below 6 bills.

I have had the SP2022 in both 9mm and .40. I had the 9mm and gifted it to my daughter when she got her first apartment (it was her fav). Then I missed it (and her) so much that I bought myself the .40 version to fill the emptiness in my soul (both gun and daughter :D).

I'd take a Sig over a CZ all day any day. This is absolutely NOT to say that the CZ is a bad choice. I have a couple a CZs and they are awesome. I'd rank them very high above other pistols I own. But the SP2022.... ohhhhh boy. I love that pistol. Shoots nice!

However, full disclosure here if it wasn't already apparent... I am a huge Sig fan. I wouldn't say that I'm a "fanboy" as my preference is based on real experience with Sigs. But understand, my opinion is biased. ;)

-T.

I own a CZ P-01 and used to own a Sig 2022 9mm - I still have the CZ. Both are excellent pistols, but the CZ fit me better and I found the Sig to have a higher bore axis, so it flipped a bit more while shooting. The CZ sits lower in the hand and is wonderfully accurate, so my choice was the CZ. YMMV. Good luck.

I used to own a P01 -PCR with a rail. I have only handled the SIG 2022, but here are my observations:

CZ PCR advantages: a little smaller, slimmer grip AND slide - easier to conceal. It also comes with nice rubber grips.

SIG 2022: It WILL have a better trigger OTB. The CZ decockers can have some pretty gritty triggers, and their decocker models are harder to work on. This CAN be a $150 advantage to the SIG. Sights and accessories are also more available.

Both ought to be very accurate and reliable.

BTW - I own some CZs, but not any SIGs.

Sam Adams, I gotta say that firearms don't usually instill lust in me, but....whoa.

Check out this PCR, the Ultimate CZ Compact Carry gun

That is one beautiful piece of work. Me wants. Ook ook.

Thanks
