Hello folks, long-time lurker on THR, I purchased a CPO P220 Carry Elite last week and finally took it to the range today. Let me say that I was somewhat reluctant to acquire the P220, even though I love my five other Sigs. I have seen common issues that seemed to plague the 220, particularly extractor and feed issues. My local dealer happened to have this beauty in excellent condition with no visible wear on the slide or frame at I price I couldn't refuse.

Other than the tell-tale red box, I would've thought it was brand new. I am pleased to say that after 150 rounds of Blazer Brass 230 grain, this gun functioned flawlessy! I must admit that I found myself anticipating recoil a few times, never really shot 45, mostly 9mm for the past few years. I love the SRT trigger and will be sending my other SIGS to be converted. Thanks for the wealth of information you provide for your fellow enthusiasts!

I'm glad to see that another P220 owner has a problem free gun :)

I thought from all of the negative P220 posts that I've read lately, I had the only five good P220s that ever came out of the Sig Factory

The more I have researched the extractor issue the more I believe it has to do with the tolerances of the extractor and the milling of the area opposite the extractor and the the milled under the extractor. On the one that works the milling is very sharp and clean.

Good to Go P220

^^^ Great pictures!
FWIW-
There was a thread over on the Sig Forum that covered a possible easy do-it-yourself fix.

I don't think you should have to fix your gun yourself, especially a new one.
However, if it is a simple fix such as is described in that thread, I'd probably give it a shot.

My only concern would be if you didn't solve the feeding problem and had to send it back to Exeter, Sig would not cover it if they could see that the gun was worked on by somebody other than their gunsmiths. It doesn't appear that you would have to remove a large ammount of metal, maybe just lightly file a rough burr or clean up an edge.

Yeah I would worry that if your fix did not work Sig could invalidate the warranty.

Those pics are great. They really show the the details of the slide. My P220 SAS was somewhere in between these two. The intent milling was not as precise as the one that works but not as sloppy as the second one.
