So.....on my last range trip, I noticed that with every discharge I could feel the plastic grips 'giving' along the backstrap crease where the two sides come together. By giving, I mean the plastic was momentarily collapsing under the pressure of the recoil against the palm of my hand. It didn't 'give' a lot - just enough to notice.

FWIW, I was shooting cheapo walmart remington 115gr hp's through a CPO P226 w/ the current grip style.

Is this normal for the 226 grips? Anyone have a replacement brand they're fond of on their 226? I'd like to avoid the same issue if I buy replacement grips.

Ammo, for the very most part, has nothing to do with this phonemia..

Never heard of Sig factory plastic grips bending in at the rear seam, per shot, but, hey, anything is possible I guess.

These grips old..? Have you cleaned them with gun scrubber, or some kind of substance while cleaning the whole gun that may have weakened the plastic.. ? Any discoloration of the black..?

I would suggest maybe looking into a set of Hogue rubber side-panels (no finger groves) just the side panels, only.. Very nice feel.

And no give with any shots that I've ever noticed, using them on my P229's.

Pretty common issue. I would remove them clean them and then try your best to matte them up.

If it is a new gun you can call Sig and ask for replacement grips which might be better. Also check the tension on the grip screws.
