Ive always been a fan of Sigs, especially in SA, but i gotta be honest, i have yet to find a DA/SA trigger that i really like. For some reason the transition is always harsh and for some reason the SA pull always feels like its stacking. It may be just my predisposition against DA/SA triggers (1911 girl here) but ive never really appreciated them. That said, i think Sig's are about as good as they get. Atleast thats been my opinion.

I've got two regular P226's, 22 slide, 9mm slide, 40 slide with 357 barrel and 9mm Bar-Sto barrel. I also have an X-5 All Round 9mm. The P226 is the first pistol I ever owned. I like the DA/SA and have become pretty proficient with the platform. I shoot IDPA matches with the 9mm in ESP, also the X-5. I like the weight and the ergonomics of the SIG platform. It isn't for everyone, but it is perfect for me as I have large hands, long fingers, and love these pistols. By the way, any slide will work on all three frames. But the X-5 5" slide looks weird on the alloy P226 frame and the 22 looks funny on the X-5 frame.

As far as a defensive weapon the DA/Sa system is the deal breaker for me so it won't replace my Glock.

Great pistol, but I just don't like DA/SA operation,

i have yet to find a DA/SA trigger that i really like.

Interesting negative takes on the DA/SA configuration. "Traditional" double-action semi-autos are the design of choice for me when I'm considering using a pistol for self-defense purposes. It might simply come down to which system a shooter is most familiar with. My years of training has made me predisposed toward the DA/SA operation.

226 9mm was my first handgun. I love it, but there are somethings I don't like:
1) Trigger reach is a bit much. I installed the short trigger and it feels better, but something to look out for if you have smallish hands.
2) Pointablity. For me the Sig points badly compared to say, a Beretta 92. Something about the slightly boxy shape makes it point badly.
3) DA sucks (for me.) Something about the factory weight + the super curvy trigger makes DA shots really hard to hit accurately. I know, for example, that Gray's Guns offers a nicer trigger as they also find the factory trigger shape a little off.
4) Night sights are harder to see during the day, but pickup nicely at night. But how often do you shoot at night?

Going through Wolff to get a lighter mainspring to lighten up the DA pull of my 226; Question: How light is too light? I wouldn't imagine that they would sell anything that would give a hair trigger, read how a 19lb spring will take it to apx 8lbs of DA pull. Any one have experience with this and were you happy with it? To be honest I'm thinking about just going with the 19lb but would love to hear some insight... Thanks.
I can use an 18 lb mainspring with Remington UMC ammo in 9mm without any problems in DA mode. Lighter than that and I get some misfires due to light hammer strikes but in DA only. Most any ammo will be OK with a 19 in DA. Stock is 21 in the late model guns. I run a 13 lb Wolff variable rate recoil spring in the 9mm with the Remington UMC 115 g FMJ ammo, works great.

i have a 226 in 9mm. never malfunctions, grip is comfortable, has 18rd mags, easy to field strip and clean, very decent trigger, would trust my life to it without hesitation.

if you want one, buy one. the design has been around forever, the bugs were worked out long ago, very solid reliable gun.

random question about your dislike of DA/SA triggers -- have you ever tried a cz-82? that's one you might actually like. SA does not stack at all, and both DA and SA are butter smooth.

I too dislike DA/SA triggers. You should give the DAK trigger a try. It feels like a nicely smoothed out S&W revolver. It very easy to shoot well; see the video below.

I love mine, it serves as my duty gun. Very sweet shooting pistol, not nearly as snappy as a poly .40. My only recommendation is to get the Mec-gar Optimum mags with the anit-friction coating. 13rd flush fit and 15 round extended, both work flawlessly, are cheaper than SIG mags, and have a much better finish.
