Lots of dealers are now in possession of Sig P228s which are NIB. These are frankenguns.
They are P228 slides on P229 SAS frames. Once dealer claimed they were old stock. They are not. They are parts guns assembled using parts from the US and Germany. There had been talk that Sig had slides but no frames. This is their solution.
Again I am not saying do not by these pistols. I am not saying that they are bad or that they will not serve their owners properly. They are still a very good configuration. I personally have always considered the P288 one of the best Sigs ever made. The perfect balance of capacity and size. A compact pistol which still handles like a full sized. Its classic balance has always been it greatest attraction for me. It simply feels different then the P229 in 9mm. It might be the slide it might be the frame? Maybe its just in my mind. Either way if I did not already have a few nice P228s in the stable I would be considering these but I would would be going in EYES WIDE OPEN!
These are not the same as the older W. German or even US origin P228s.
