I purchases a Blued P 232 used a while back. It looked like it was in great shape.
I read the instruction manual, and tried to clean it. I discovered that they take down lever had problems. Its not just a simple pin: the external lever actuates another part that relieves the slide. For some reason, mine would occasionally fail to actuate this part.
I took it shooting, and everything was fine for about 20 rounds. Then i started to have failure to feeds, and failure to hold opens about once per magazine. I noticed that the take down lever had wiggled its way into the down position. I put it back, and it was fine for a few more magazines. Then it wiggled down again, and the problems resumed.
It was a lightweight and accurate gun. It was very comfortable to shoot after i added a pair of Hogue rubber grips. I tried several brands of ammo, and types of bullets, and it fed them all well.
I'm sure I could have sent it back to Sig and gotten it fixed, but it probably wouldn't have been under warranty. Instead of fooling around with it, I traded it in on a new Glock 30 the shop had at a good price. The Glock is clunkier, but i am happy with it.
That said, I would recommend the P232 if you find one NEW at a good price. I would even consider buying one again someday if i found a new one at a good price. It was just so easy to carry, and with some good grips it just feels so good in your hand.
