I foolishly shot up my SD ammo because it was a year and a half old. Now I'm regretting it. At bass pro I saw this Sig Sauer V Crown ammo for 14$ for 20 of em. I don't know much about it. Is it good to go? Or is there a reason it's so much cheaper than the other stuff?

That was the first test I'd seen of V-Crown 200-grain and its rather pitiful (non)expansion ...

However, the V-Crown in most calibers does seem to have gathered some rather impressive reviews concerning its accuracy. I've been using the 147-grain 9mm loads and experienced some pretty spectacular groups out of my P226 and P229 Legions ...

What caliber?

I generally prefer Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot, but the SIG Sauer V Crown ammo seemed to perform pretty well in 9mm Luger and .40 S&W in the Lucky Gunner ballistic testing:

The 200 grain .45 ACP stuff failed to expand and I would avoid it in that caliber.

It was the 9mm 124 gr. Thanks for the link. I'll see if it runs in my Beretta. May have found my new carry ammo

I've been shooting Sig ammo on and off, usually find it on sale at Cabela's. No issues, it's good stuff. I especially like that their 357 Sig ammo is much cheaper than most other brands. ;)

I carry the 124 grain in my P938. The tests mentioned above show it to be pretty good, and it's usually reasonably priced. I haven't seen any tests on the 147 grain; I'd rather have that if it's any good from a short barrel.

Where did you find Sig ammo fir $14/20?

If you do line the ammo I would buy a good supply because the price is still low only because it's fairly new. Once sales come up they will raise the price just like all the others. Nothing with the Sig name on it will stay inexpensive very long.

The local Sportsman's Warehouse is 13.95 for either the 124 or 147 grain-- 20 round box of course.
