Just seeking advice here on a trade that's been offered to me today.

I have a Sig Sauer P250 and they have a Sig P239. Just curious what the general opinion on this would be, good or bad.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on condition of the 229, I'd probably make that trade if not attached to the 250.

Whoops! 239! Not 229. I'd still make the trade.

Assuming decent condition for both guns...

I'd make that trade in a heartbeat, and squeal wheels driving away!

If not satisfied, you can always sell the 239 and buy another P250 and some ammo.

It largely depends on how you intend to use the pistol.

You don't say what size or caliber 250 you have--are you going down in size or staying about the same? Is the 239 the same caliber? For equal calibers, you are going to lose capacity going to a 239. I can't speak for a 250, but finding 239 magazines right now is about impossible (at least without spending a lot of money on an auction).

How do you like the 250's DAO trigger? Do you shoot well going from DA to SA? Is that important to you? Do you plan on buying other size grips/slides to use with the same frame? Is having a rail important to you?

Great points Cuervo, the P250 is a range only firearm.. I found it a little too large/thick to carry comfortable. I prefer IWB. So the single stack factor on the 239 seems like a better route for carry to me. I actually own two of the P250s so I have no attachment. The one I have is the compact model, stainless slide. The 239 is the same caliber, both 9mm. Standard model 239 as far as I know. Definitely not a tactical model, does not have dak trigger, it is da/sa.

I actually really like the DAO trigger on the 250, i am a revolver shooter so I enjoyed having a semi with a similar double action trigger. DA/SA is about the same for me as the DAO. Either way works. The only thing about the 239 that I see from first glance that I don't like is the aftermarket grips on it. I believe they are something like hogues, thick rubber with finger grooves. I will probably put something similar to the thinner factory grip panels back on.

Thanks for all of the replies so far, if nothing else it has confirmed my feelings on the trade.
