Is it possible to get a short reset trigger for my P226 from anywhere besides straight from Sig? I'm not interested in shipping them my gun for something I can do myself.

Top Gun Supply carries them, but is out of stock right now. Sign up for their email alert and they will let yuo know when they come in.

Very easy to install. Most of the how-to videos have you stripping the entire frame. While a good idea if you haven't done it before (just so you know how) it's not necessary to swap out the sear and the safety lever. UNLESS YOU ARE ALSO INSTALLING THE SHORT-REACH TRIGGER.

If just the short-reset sear kit, Remove slide, (decock hammer) take the pressure off the sear spring (move the end of it off the sear spring pin), push out sear pin, remove OEM sear and OEM safety lever, replace with SRT ones (long leg of safety lever pointing down, short leg forward), put the pin back in through safety lever, sear/spring/sear, and ejector, put the leg of the sear spring underneath the spring pin again, function test.

Tips:
The Sear spring pin wants to get in the way when installing the Sear.
Stick a Q-Tip in the Sear and bring the Sear in below that pin. The Q-Tip will help get the Sear in. Bring the Sear pivot pin in from the left side to barely catch one side of the Sear and place the Sear spring in and push the Sear pivot pin over to the right side of the Sear. Then the Safety lever with the long arm pointing down behind that thick Tab of the SRT Sear.

I install it all as follows - ejector, safety and pin advanced just enough to hold it, sear with pin advanced into the first hole only, spring & and then the pin advanced all the way. If the weapon is new the parts can be very tight.

Just so the readers will know, so we are all on the same page, the SRT is a number of internal parts in the trigger system, that results in a shorter reset, in single-action mode, not the trigger itself. The "Short Trigger" is a factory part that is the physical trigger, itself.

The SRT and factory "Short Trigger" are independent factory options. A SIG can can have either option, alone, or can have both. The exception is a DAK or DAO SIG, because SRT only affects the single-action reset.

For example, my P229R DAK duty pistol, manufactured before the introduction of the SRT, has the factory "Short Trigger," which enables my less-than-long index fingers to reach the face of the trigger for a good DA stroke. (DAK was my choice; not forced upon me by the PD.)

I hope this might be helpful to a reader, now or in the future.

And, yes, Top Gun Supply rules!

1K has it right. You can get the parts, that is 2 parts, watch a few Youtube videos on how to install, and it is pretty simple.

I did both mine and my wife's P226 in about 15 minutes.:)

Did I mention there are only 2 parts? :what: There was no filing, cutting, bending, just take your time.

Be safe.
