I have a chance to trade my Sig P226 Dark Elite 9mm for a H&K 45V1 with holster. I think the SIG is a good gun I have had a H&K USP9mm and it was a very nice pistol but I have never even seen a H&K 45 V1. What would your thoughts be on the subject? I just trying to get a good trade because I don't realy carry the Sig eny way. I perfer my S&W 686 for carry.

If you like the USP, you'll probably like the HK45. Tough to compare a 9mm pistol to a .45 though. Sounds like a good trade money wise, provided you want a full size .45 instead of a full size 9mm.

Hk45 is ergonomically superior to usp.

I have H&K usp 45 and 9, I compare their ergos to the P30, which is arguably the best ergonomic pistol in the market. Even then, somehow I like H&K usp 45 (not 9) better in my hands. I dont have huge hands but med-large.

That all said, I also have Sig Sauer p226 elite. I have to say that the new grip angle and fit on enhanced elite is amazing. It will be extremely difficult for me to trade that for hk45.

But in your case it seems like you have no particular need for your elite so might as well try something new, but know what you are letting go off such as the SRT trigger in Elite, which is much better than H&K 45's.

The SIG pistol mentioned comes from the new era of SIG that I and many much more qualified folks believe is the lower quality, crummy end of the SIG Sauer legacy. If you were talking about a pre-2004 SIG I would have a hard time deciding. For current production guns, I can much more easily and wholeheartedly trust an HK over a glitzed & glamorized SIG.

YMMV, and it most likely will, as 35 members will chime in here shortly to disagree. :D

The grip angles are virtually identical between sig and HK. That said, I wouldn't put it past the sig marketing folks to adopt the horrible gLoCk grip angle on a few models that I am not familiar with.......

I am biased, but I would go with the HK and not look back. Nothing wrong with sig Peres, I just prefer the ergonomics and controls of the HK's by a wide margin.

The P226 and HK45 are both very top tier pistols - one really can't go wrong with either IMO. Go with what will work best for you.

Can't go wrong with either but the HK45 is one fine weapon! I do REGRET not purchasing it sooner!!!!!!!

Opinions vary (as Patrick Swayze said in that classic B-movie, Roadhouse) ...

Ford? Chevy? Who cares? I've carried both as duty issue. SIGs, hands-down, are far more ergonomic. When we had the USPs foisted on us, we used to say, "The best $400 pistols currently selling for $850 that money can buy." I'd tend to agree with those who'd say the HK-45s are grossly overpriced as well ...
