As most of you know, I shoot Police Combat Pistol competitively. For the Duty Match, I shoot a Sig P226 ST and for the Distinguished, an S&W 945. The 945 has millett style adjustable rear target sights that are the bees knees for me. The P226 however has the standard Sig bar-dot sights, which I find less than optimal. Since the Duty Match outlaws the use of adjustable sights (supposed to be service issue type firearm), I'm left with little in the way of options for sights other than Heinies or Novaks.

What I'd like to find is a set with a similar sight picture, but non-adjustable. Anybody have any insight or options I haven't considered?

Thanks in advance!

Sight picture similar to what?
Are your Milletts plain black or their peculiar "longhorn steer" white outline - red front?

If black, what would be wrong with Heinie sights on the P226?
If colored, model paint and a fine brush will get you somewhere.

If I took the problem to my FLG, the P226 slide would go on the milling machine and would soon take any sight that could be ordered for a 1911, but that is just the way he thinks. I've got a Weatherby XXII with a 1911 mainspring for example. Shoots fine.

Bruce Gray is the current guru of Sig-Sauers. He puts a fibre optic front and a black rear on action shooting guns but could probably provide something to look good on a B27. I don't think he has a www site yet, but can be contacted at [email protected]
He was very forthcoming and helpful to me and I didn't even buy anything.

I sent Bruce an email a few weeks ago asking this very question. I have not gotten a response. From his postings on the SigForum, I understand he has email problems from time to time (emails just go poof).

If you get a response from Bruce, or figure out other options, please post. I'm also looking for this info.

Thanks

Try Bruce again. ([email protected]) He just came home from Epping after teaching a sucessful Practical Fundamentals class at SigArms Academy. I spoke with his wife yesturday and he came home to over 200 emails regarding Sigs, HKs and God knows what else. Some of his emails also get SPAM filtered via AOHELL. If your having problems reaching him shoot me an email and I'll make sure you guys get a response.

Any chance you could get the answer from Bruce and post it for us? I noticed on the SigForum he was having serious email problems again.

email from Bruce Gray

As I mentioned above, I'd sent an email to Bruce Gray a while back on this very subject. I know he had some email problems and I figured it got lost in cyberspace.... surprise, surprise today I got a response. I'll post part of his email:

"...We've been absolutely swamped this month and I don't think we responded to your inquiry adequately yet. We should be caught up by mid-January and I invite you to get back a hold of me after the New Year. Thanks for bearing with me!

Specifically, for sights we use Heinie and Novak rears with Dawson FO fronts....."

Man, I love the SIG dot-the-i. I've never seen a faster aligning setup. You can see in an instant whether the sights are aligned, and if not, which way they need to go.
