I recently purchased a No serial number 572 and a 1975 model 572. both were shooting too far left. these rifles have the old style 22 sights with the ladder stair step elevation adjustment. To remedy my problem i tapped the front sight to the left. the older rifle has the sight about half way off center of the barrel and the 1975 model is about 1/3 the way off center!

Am i missing something? because i don't see any windage adjustment on rear sight.

Has anyone else run into this on a Remington 22 rifle. I am all ears if there is a remedy for these off set dovetail front sights?

I would like them to be centered or nearly so.

Never had that problem with my old Speedmaster. Don't know of any adjustment on the rear sight other than elevation.

A 572 I bought at a garage sale and restored has a similar problem except mine shoots to the right. I don't like the front sight being off center but the only option I can think of would be to take off the rear sight, mill a dovetail and put in an adjustable rear sight. Or maybe a tang sight. I think I'll just live with an off center front.
