i use a win. 1300 turkey shotgun for turkey and have tried most shells that have came down the pike, from the 8.00 a piece to the elcheapo,s.but i think i have found the ones my 1300 likes and its a cheapo. federal strut-shok turkry thugs, with 1-7/8oz #6 about 10.00 at walmart. here is the last target i shot at 30yds from a rest, the scope is a leupold 1x4. eastbank.

I'm unfamiliar with using a scope on turkeys or for a 30 yard shot.
If 4s or 5s shoot good too, they will have more "downing" ability at longer ranges up to 45 yds. or so.

my eyes force me to use optics as the beads on the barrel just about disappear. and true 4-5,s will carry more energy out to 40-50 yrds, but the pattern thins out too. i believe in the swarm theory and 35yrds is about my limit on fireing on a turkey with a shotgun. 5,s do shot very good too,but its 6,s for me. the 10.5x10.5 target has at least 301 holes in it at 30 yrds out of 420 in the 1-7/8oz,s of #6,s. eastbank.

a good choke will help drastically. i use a jelly-head and have killed turkey stone cold dead past 50 yards. i usually let them get closer but there are some times you just have to kill 'em when they're on out there and a good turkey choke makes that a real possibility no just a lucky chance.
