I looked for a specialized optics section and didn't find it, so I will ask here - does anyone have any experince with Sightron sciopes? I have been lookingn ta one for a 270 WSM. The model is the SII 3 - 12 X 42. I am between that and a Burris FFII Ballistic Plex in similar power. Both have really good reviews, the Sightron seems to have the edge on clarity and light transmission. Anything to add?

sightron makes a good scope, and i would go sightron well before burris.

anything to add? yeah, make sure you also do a comparison w/ nikon and leupold in that price range. my preference is for leupold because the cost is about the same, optics are about the same, leupold has the edge in weight, leupold has the edge in eye relief and critical eye box area. still, sightron, nikon, leupold... all are about equal and if you want to find a distinct advantage, you have to look to something other than optics (weight, eye relief, mounting flexibility, etc).

I have a FFII Ballistic Plex 3x9/40 and a SII 3x9/42. The Sightron SII stomps the Burris FF in every possible way except reticle adornments. Clearer, crisper, less chromatic abberations, better off-axis performance, more forgiving eye relief - you name it. I like the FFII for a basic optic, but I love the SII.

It's one of the last gen-yooo-wine bargains in optics when compared to its price competitors (Buckmaster, low end Monarch, VXII). Buy 'em cheap while you can.

I have a Sightron varmint scope and it's great.
No complaints of any kind, and I've had it for about 6 years.
Sturdy, clear optics, easily adjusted (one of Sightron's selling points), and holds zero, at a good price.

Maybe Leupold has slightly better optics, but I can't tell it if so, and there's a sizeable price difference, making Sightron a real bargain IMNSHO.

I've had 2. Initial purchase, and the replacement. Both awful.:cuss: :cuss: I'll not go there again! Customer service is as shoddy as the product.
I hate 'em.:neener:

I agree that they make a decent scope and even more agree with
do a comparison w/ nikon and leupold in that price range.

Great low price scope. I'm presently using the SII 6-24x42 scope for shooting at 1,000 yards. There are better scopes, but not in that price range.

I picked one up off of a prize table at a 3-gun match a few years ago. It's a 4-16 (I think) with the mil-dot recticle.

I thought my Leupold was a little more clear, but it could have just been me.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it.

I have a 3X9 on my 25-06 great scope!.very clear, no fogging I give them a thumbs up.

I'm using one of their 1x scopes on my T/C Omega for blackpowder shooting. Hasn't shift zero a bit, even under continuous, full-house magnum loads (120gr. Triple 7)

I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

Sightron

I've had 2 of the SS2 3-12x42 Mil-dot scopes. Both were very clear and the price couldn't be beat. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

Darn good scope for the money.

I just wish people would stop talking about them. Everytime another generation hears about them and buys them, the prices keep going up. ;)

My Sightron 4-16x42 MD with a Remington 700PSS attached to it:

I own three... Two 36s (both on competitive bench rifles), and a 3x9 on an AR...

FWIW, I took Weavers off the bench guns to use the Sightrons. I still use one of the Weavers on my unlimited gun, and the other's on a backup bench gun.

I have had two SII416X42MD and one SII624X42MD for quite a while and I am very happy with them.

Can't get a better scope for the price, and they are better than many that cost twice as much.
