This is what i will be replacing the old broken Ednar on my Mohawk 600
I believe it to be made in the Philippines. Would love to read some feed back from those that have them or have used them in the past.

I have one of those on a 552 speed master 22 that my daughter plinks with. The optics are very good and clear. Parallax does reside on the fringes, but overall nice scope. compared to the rest of the stuff that is made in Philippines and Korea etc it is 1 up.

A friend highly recommended this scope. As long as it was made in the Philippines & not Japan. Something to do with Philippines diamond grind ,& Japan made ones, were not.
Any ways. Im excited to try it.

My AETEC was mechanically unreliable and not worth the money I spent on it. It would not hold zero, and its adjustments were not trackable/repeatable.

I've never had a problem with a Simmons scope, but they change hands a bit too much for my likings. Infact I've liked the ones I've had and they've had good glass. A lot of guys I hunt with use older Simmons with great luck. However, I've also heard a few bad things about newer Aetecs. A friend bought one last year as he liked his other Simmons. With the new one, the adjustments were backwards on it. He couldn't figure out why he couldn't get it sighted in, but finally he figured out it was moving it upwards when he adjusted it downward and vice versa. He was the first complaint I've heard, then a guy on Optic Talk bought one and had this happen. http://opticstalk.com/simmons-aetec-master-414_topic25127.html

Plus the warranty on them is only for the original purchaser, or that's how it read last time I checked into it. From reports I've read it seems to be a pain to get it honored even if you are the original owner.

If you are spending $35 on a scope, I don't think you can beat the Blazer scopes in that price range, but honestly once you step up to the Aetec price range you can get a lot better scope for your money. I'd go with one of the Burris FFII's that are on clearance right now at SWFA or the Vortex Vipers on clearance at many sites. They are better scopes with better warranties for similar money. Another decent option is the Nikon Prostaff's on sale. There just are a lot of great scopes on clearance prices right now, so I'd go with one of those instead of a Aetec.

I have 2, a 3.8-14 that is from there first year and a 2.8-10 thats a year old . Both work very well and have had no prolems. May old one prised a few hunters at dark as to how well it will see compaired to some high dollar scope. Buy and try is all you can do.

Yup for a $100.00 shipped to my house & made in the Philippians. I will give it a try

So will I - an AETEC Master is on my shopping list next week. I want t see if their aspherical lens technology has helped with color fringing? I'm also curious about there "Flex Erector Tube" technology?

I had an older Japan made Aetec, that wouldnt hold zero. It did have very nice lenses, just couldnt keep it in the same place over time. Ive got a Whitetail classic from midway now that is as good and as any scope ive ever owned.

I really think the big AETEC is waaaaay too much glass for a little Mohawk. The one I had had the worst case of fish eye I've ever seen.

I bought one of these shortly after they came out, The adjustments stopped working after about a year and I sent it back. Used the replacement for a couple of years before it too failed. The second replacement continues to work ok, but I wouldn't trust it for an important hunt.

I have an 8 Point on a Ruger 10-22. It was on a rifle I got at a pawn shop for a doner action for a project. I had it in a drawer and when I recently bought the 10-22 I put it on there. It is a quality scope for the money, very clear and seems to hold zero. Of course a 22 or even a 22-250 doesn't rock it enough to really knock it off. But it seems to be a lot better than many other Simmons I have seen. I have a good friend that has had Atechs before though and he swears by them. I don't know as I have never used one.

I had Simmons Aetec and it was a good scope. Only problem was that it didn't have mil-dots, so it was a bit difficult to work out the hold-over.

I agree. Its a bigger scope than the Ednar that was on it.
I think I found a guy in Tulsa that will try & fix the Ednar.
