The VRC scope I have (4 x 12) is calibrated for
Antelope, Elk, & Deer sized animals.
Note the A E D on the zoom ring.
The rows of colored numbers give the range
to the animal. It has three numbered turrets
for bullet drop compensation.
1) Rangefinder
To find the range sight on the animal then adjust
the zoom till the horizontal stadia touch the top
and bottom of the animal's body. Observe the range
number closest to the index dot.
2) Drop compensator
Turrets:
VRC-1= Antelope
VRC-2= Elk
VRC-3= Deer
To use the bullet drop compensator zero the rifle
for 150 yds. Install the turret for the size/type
game to be hunted. Align the 150 mark with the index
dot.
3) Field use
If the animal's body overlaps the stadia at minimum
power it is within zero correction range.
If a power adjustment is required to find the range,
note the range given to the animal then turn the turret
to match the range. This will allow you to aim right on
without having to hold over.
