Hi, I am new to the forum and have a simple question:

I am trying to apply for a C&R FFL license. The forms state that one copy has to be sent to the chief local LEO. I assumed that this was the chief of police of the county where I live and I emailed them to double check. I was told that the local LE copy has to be sent to the MD State Police. Does that sound ok to you?

<edited a typo>

Usually it is either the local sheriff or chief of police. However, if you have written direction from the BATFE telling you to send it to the MD State Police, I would follow their direction, just print that e-mail and keep it in a file with your other C&R documents.

and remember, the CLEO copy is an FYI only thing. The CLEO has no say in the granting of your 03 FFL. Don't forget the citizenship form.

The copy goes to the Chief of Po-lice or the Sherriff.It does NOT go to the State police even if the local police/sherriff tell you to send it there.

The newest C&R applications, the ones that you cannot get on the internet as a .pdf, have the citizenship stuff incorporated into it. Thus, no need for the separate form.

System must be much more efficient than in the past, I got my C&R in just under two weeks.
