I own and hunt with an 870 and am plenty happy with that gun when I'm planning on going hunting. I've had instances however where it would be nice to bring a different shotgun where I hunt and leave it locked up there. I store all my guns very well and keep rust away from them but the temperature swings of an uncontrolled environment can always cause condensation and rust. I'd love to buy a stainless 12ga shotgun with a simple action (single barrel break-action) that is small in frame and barrel. Ideally I'd find an H&R in stainless but they all seem to have such long barrels and are always carbon. I'm tempted by the Rossi only because that seems to be the only one I can find but they all seem so rough and most come in .410 or 20ga.

I won't be using this gun for anymore than small game (birds and rabbits). I'd cut off a long barreled shotgun, but open chokes don't seem to take birds easily at most distances.

Any input?
