Simply Rugged Holsters

I just wanted to share an email exchange that I had last night with Rob Leahy of Simply Rugged.

Apparently, if you do not want the pair of big holes punched in your holster (in which to secure their IWB loops, listed as a $10 Add-On Cost while ordering), you should be sure to specify that. BTW, I not only did not order that "upgrade", I was not charged for it either ... just so no one misunderstands that point.

Hi, Rob.

As you can see below, I ordered a Sourdough Pancake holster from you earlier this month.

Unfortunately, when it was delivered I found that you had punched the "Inside/Out" holes, even though I neither ordered nor wanted them.

Other than those holes, I really like the holster and I am now considering ordering one for my new G30S (and, perhaps, a few more).

Before making a decision on a future Simply Rugged order, I want to make sure that those holes being punched in that first holster represent just a one-off OOPS and you do not, now, punch those holes in ALL of your holsters (I am not a fan of IWB).

BTW, I still have the first pancake holster that I ever bought. It is a Roy Baker that I got in 1975 for my CHP pistol. I turned over your holster and your choice of stamps brought a smile to my face.

Wow. You intentionally punched those unwanted holes in my holster.

It is only an upgrade if it is a modification that the customer desires.

<nodding> Good idea ... and then capture an image of that product on your computer for reference.

10-12 years ago the Radio Shack website had a IR Thermometer w/Laser listed on-sale (I responded to an email they sent). It was an excellent price for one with the integrated Laser so I ordered one ... and captured a copy of their webpage as I often do with new-to-me web vendors.

The product they shipped to me had no integrated Laser. I checked their website again and, sure enough, Laser.

I emailed them about the issue. They responded that, no, the item listed did not feature an integrated Laser. Upon reading that I surfed over to the same website ... and they had changed it! WOW! Slimy!

I had my captured webpage, though, so I strong-armed them into paying for the return and refund ...

... and I haven't been back since then.

One more Life Lesson.

BTW, no, I do not believe that was Radio Shack Policy, I just think that it represented the actions of a dishonorable employee.

I thank you for the kind offer, Rob, but I do not wish to be wasteful and the holes do not appear that they will adversely effect either function or longevity.

Your initial response did surprise me but I quickly decided that it was probably just the result of it being the end of a long day and so, No Problem.

Good to see the follow up. I have several SR holsters and have always found Rob to be easy to deal with and pleasent. The initial response did seem odd. Everyone has an off day.

I have several of the Simply Rugged Holsters. Glad to see that Rob reconsidered his initial reply. I have made the same mistake in my business and it usually came on the heels of some other knucklehead being completely unreasonable and it just caught me at a bad time.

Their holsters are my go-to for any new gun. They hold the gun tight to the side. On another note, their belts are fantastic as well.

I've had nothing but great interactions with SR. Oh, and great products too. In fact, they have been quite a pleasant contrast to one of their competitors who took 3 iterations to provide a holster that fit my gun. Elapsed time was 10 months (a stock and current model but relatively rare). They were nice and reasonable about it along the way but geez.

I had the mirror image experience from yours. I ordered a pancake holster without owb straps, then emailed him after i paid and asked to be charged to add them. They came with straps that were sent free of charge.
