I can't go deer hunting for the first time till Nov. 23 I'm very excited to say the least. Seeing all of your kills and stories is getting me pumped up. Since I don't have any kills this year I figured I could show you what I'll be hunting with.

Tikka T3 Lite .270 Win
Redfield Revenge 3-9x42 scope (factory Tikka rings) edited I misspoke and said I had Leupold rings.
Handloaded 130gr Accubond

Shoots consistent 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. The target pics were 3 shot groups shot on 3 different days in different weather.

I'm excited for you! You're well equipped, that's for sure! I'm subscribing to this thread, and expect to hear your success story this November. I want all the details---don't leave anything out!

Thanks Man I've had a lot of help from people I know in person that hunt a lot and people on this forum giving me advice. I can't thank everyone on here enough for putting up with my newbie questions lol hopefully I'll have a sucessfull hunt complete with pics and I'll have a novel to write about my first deer hunt and kill. Can't wait

CarJunkie,
We've spoken before on the thread about the "35 Rem Vs Hog" thread. Being new as you are, you came to the right place. I once thought I had a wealth of knowledge about firearms. And compared to some I do. But compared to some people on here, I don't know squat. Learning more every day. I was and still am very glad I joined this forum. Soak it all up my friend. We will do our best to lead you in the right direction and pass our knowledge on to you. Welcome to the sport of deer hunting. You're going to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Btw, PRACTICE with that rig. Sighting in isn't good enough. When/if that deer steps out, your heart is going to start pounding. Simulate that by sprinting for 30-50 yards and then picking up your rifle and trying to hit the target. Control/slow your breathing. Try to shoot between heartbeats. Squeeze, don't jerk the trigger. Those 4 things will really help prepare you when the time comes.

Best of luck this year. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread to see how it turns out.
