What rifles/carbines do you use to hunt deer, hogs and black bear size game? Do you have one rifle/carbine for all your big game hunting? Do you use different rifles/carbines for different situations and conditions? Do you use different rifles/carbines just to use them?

I have three rifles/carbines I use to hunt deer, hogs and black bear.

My main big game rifle/carbine in my Remington 7600 Carbine 30-06 Spr. It has a Redfield one piece base and Leupold low rings and a Leupold VX-II 2-7x33mm Scope. I use Fusion 165 gr. factory ammo. It's zeroed at 100 yards and shoots 1 1/2" groups. It's the perfect all round rifle/carbine for my hunting. It carries really nice, is quick and handles great. I use it when my shots will be from 2 to 200 yards, which is about 70% of my big game hunting. Anything from sitting and watching, still hunting and just all round hunting.

My open sight rifle. My Marlin 336C 35 Rem. It has XS Ghost Ring Sights. I use Remington 200 gr. SP Core-Lokt factory ammo. It's zeroed at 75 yards and shoots baseball size groups. I'm not that good with open sights. It carries really nice without having a scope and is quick to aim and shoot fast. I use it for hunting in thick brush, deep thick woods, some still hunting and drives when my shots will be within 75 yards or so.

My long range rifle is my Remington 700 Classic 280 Rem. It has a Leupold one piece base and medium rings and a older Redfield Tracker 3-9x40mm Scope. It will probably be replaced by either a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40mm or VX-II 4-12x40mm Scope. I use Remington 140 gr. PSP Core-Lokt factory ammo. It's zeroed 1 1/2" high at 100 yards and shoots an inch group. It shoots Remington 165 gr. SP Core- Lokt's to the same windage and just about zeroed at 100 yards. So I can use either if I needed to without any adjustment on my scope. I use it for watching fields, clear cuts and power lines or anywhere I think my shots might be over 200 yards. The Remington 700 Classic is my favorite rifle and the 280 Rem. is my favorite cartridge.

    Thanks, NYH1! ;)

I have a Rem 788 in .308 for most of my needs. Occasionally use a Traditions .50 cal muzzle loader and a bolt action open sighted 20 ga. for the occasional deer/boar gun in the thicket type of hunting.

Ive got four guns in this category that are "officially" mine, My girlfriend claimed my .243, and 06 lol.

My 6x47 and Mini fall into the same group 200yds and under. The 6x was built from my old remington 700 adl in .223 so ive actually had the rifle for some 10 years or so. It fires 88grn berger flat base vlds at 2900 and change, it can reach out past 200yds but i generally dont see the need. Topped it with a nikon 3-9x40 prostaff bdc, and use nikons spoton. Its actually been pretty close as far out as ive shot it. It now wares a boyds classic stock.

My mini-14 is pretty much my new goat rifle, ive used the .223 for deer quite a bit so im confident in its ability with proper shot placement. 581 series mini, coate flash hider and handguard (i think), Hogue stock bedded to the action, and a trigger job are about it. This little gun will hold about 1 1/2" at 100, and minute of bowling pin at 250ish. My load is a 68grn hornady bthp over 26grns of w748. Next time im out shooting targets i might group it at the longer range. Its scoped with a nikon .223 1-4x20 BDC I still actually need to chrono this load, the last time i went out my chrono was out of batteries, so i havent plugged it into spot on yet. sorry no dead critter picture lol.

The next gun on my list is my 7mm remington magnum 700 SPS. I chose this particular gun because of the longer tube and longer magazine. Its topped with a simmons whitetail classic 6.5-20x50AO, id prefer a smaller scope but for the quality of optics and price ill deal. The load for this one is a 168grn berger (tho i JUST got some Amax to try), over a heavy charge of retumbo running a bit over 3k. I slicked up the action a bit, as the matte finish was a bit harsh. I also filled bedded the stock and filled the whole forend with fiberglass and resin. The whole thing weighs more then my .300, its some where around 10lbs. Again no dead critter pictures, as ive only taken it hunting a few times, killed one spike, and a decent billy.

Last but not least is my .300 winchester Savage 110. This is an old 110, again pretty old 10yrs or so. It started life as a 7mm, but i let the barrel get rusted so i swaped it out to .300, and then came to the realization that the mag was a tad to short to load it out the way i wanted. I Might change it out to another shorter magnum round, well see. Boyds laminated thumbhole stock that i bedded, shortened, thinned, and hollowed out as much as i could. limbsaver pad, and simmons scope round it out. Shoots about 1" at 100 with 180ssts over 4350. I took my largest buck with this rifle, cant find a picture right now. heres the doe i got the same day.

For most of my hunting, I use a Springfield Trapdoor in 50-70. yes, it is single shot but how many shots do you need? I have recently been given a Trapdoor in 45-70 so I will be using it after I get used to the flatter trajectory.

For those times when I feel the need for additional rounds carried in the rifle and not on a belt, I have a Winchester 1895 chambered for the 405 WCF.

I would use any of those rifles for the any hunting on this continent.

I have two main hunting rifles.

The first is my favorite. It is a Marlin 336 30-30 lever action. It has a 16.75" barrel, enlarged lever loop for my fat hands, 2.5x scout scope, and XS ghost ring sights. Its light and handy and I carry it a lot.

The other hunting rifle is a Rem 700 in 30-06. Stainless and synthetic stock. Has a 4x Leupold scope.

I debate on getting a Scout rifle in 308 but haven't done so yet. I want but don't need one.

I have one other rifle a Marlington 45-70 lever action. Its in for repairs. I'm not sure if I will hunt much with it or not yet.

My new fav is my Marlin308 with the cheapest Leupold I could get. It is my deer and sometimes hog gun.

My main hog guns are my AR and Mini14, and sometimes a Nag.

My hog gun is a Marlin 336 that has been rebored/chambered to .375 Win/38-55. Has a 1.25-4 x 30mm scope, with illuminated reticle.

My deer rifle is usually a CZ 550 in 6.5x55 Swede, with a 2-7 scope.

Texan by birth, in Colorado cause I hate humidity
For Prairie Dogs I use my AR15. For big game I use my Marlin 1895G. I hope to add a Winchester M70 in 375H&H to the list in the future.
