Looking for some reviews on the Sinclair heavy varmint rest .

Also where the the best place to get one for a descent price ?

Thanks

I don't believe there is a great deal of difference in technology between the basic triangle rest with a windage top, be it Sinclair , Protekor, Bald Eagle or Joe Cowan except Joe has his Students build them with proceeds going towards the school IIRC....

thanks for the reply South Prarie Jim and I am sure is not much difference in the rests you mentioned .

Was set on the Bald Eagle but they just raised their prices quite a bit on their rests before I could get an order in even though they are still on backorder.

Couple the price increase with the replacing the cable windage I would need to do, the Sincalir seemed like a good option possibly.

Will check out Joe Cowan and see what they have .

Horseman61, was going to go with the bald eagle but they are out of stock and increased the price up 65-80 dollars on their rest even though it is not in stock , that was not a pleasant surprise.

This is my Hart rest, with a windage top. If you want it, I'll sell it to you for a very reasonable cost, plus shipping, because I'm not in competition anymore. I used it to set a new Maine Rimfire Benchrest record of 749/750-45X. (Missed the last bullseye of the last target. Probably a bad round.)

We use both the Bald Eagle and the Sinclair. Flip a coin, both are great for the money. The Bald Eagle linkage control has a lot of lash, but can be converted to direct drive easily enough.

I bought both of our Sinclair rests from Brownells, can’t recall if I waited on sales for both, or just used my standard discount there, but even retail price, you’re not really overpaying. Shoot a few thousand rounds across it and your price per shot shrinks to near-zero pretty quickly either way.

I have the Sinclair and really like it . I have the windage and non-windage top I swap out depending on rifle . I find the windage top to be my favorite for 3" flat forearm rifles , although not needed it really does help dial you in. Very well built, I have considered adding a speed screw to mine for timed competition . Old school rest without a joystick, a little slower but work just fine.

I have owned one of these for more years than I can remember. The base is cast iron. It's a heavy rest with fine adjustments.

I'd be interested in it.PM me if you want to sell it.
Yes, I'd sell it, but haven't thought about what I want to get for it. Give me a figure as to what you would like it for, plus shipping. I don't want a lot of money for it, just fair for both of us.

Take it to PM, selling outside the buy, sell, trade area isn't allowed. I know, you mean well, just saying. :)

Sorry about that. Actually, I would even give it to someone just getting into the game on a shoestring budget. It can be a VERY expensive venue, especially just starting up.

I've owned the Bald Eagle rest in a slingshot model with the rack and pinion course elevation adjustment and the non windage top. As I mentioned earlier there are three points of contact with most rest of this style. How smooth and how stable comes into play, plenty of weight and where the controls are located are important to me.
I bought this from my friend Dusty whom built the base I use back in 1998 while Dan Greenlaw built my top a couple years ago.
20lbs approximately
