So, in another thread, I was contemplating replacing my PX4 Storm SD with either a FNX 45 Tactical or a P220.

I decided today to go with the P220 Carry I got a good deal on a used P220 with G10 grips, SRT and Grey Guns trigger. Can't wait to get it to the range.

I want to mainly use this gun for a range gun, but may opt to carry it from time to time.

There are a few other things I want to do to it and wanted to get some input.

Reflex Sight - I really liked the ease of dropping a reflex site on the FNX, however, I know there are options from milling to just getting a bracket to put a reflex on the p220. Anyone have any experience with one way verses the other. And, really Reflex sites in general. Seems like this might make me less apt to carry it, but who knows.

EFK or Bar-Sto Barrel - I am thinking about dropping in a stainless barrel from one of these companies. I am leaning toward EFK but have no experience with either. So first, anyone have input on the two companies. Second, do I just go standard length or get a longer ported barrel? Here I am leaning toward the ported barrel to reduce muzzle flip.

Stainless Steel Guide Rod - yea, I know that the increase in mass is minimal, maybe there is a better rod for recoil reduction. Mainly I want the stainless look along with the stainless barrel but also to increase the weight a bit more to have even a minimal impact to recoil.

Grip - I want to try the G10 to see if I like it. Seems kinda narrow for my big mitts, especially coming from predominately Beretta 92's. I ordered the Hogue rubber grip with finger groves. I want to try it against the G10's.

Coating - I may, longer term, get it coated in a sniper grey or lighter coating. Just something to set it apart.

Any input would be greatly appreciated on one or all of these ideas.

Congrats on your choice. I've always been a SIG 220 fan and still have a couple of ST models as well as an alloy frame one I've has custom work on that used to be my duty gun.

You can check around, but I'm not sure there is enough slide above the firing pin channel to mill in a RDS. My experience with milled in RDS has been mostly with striker fired guns.

Unless the factory barrel is shot out, you don't gain anything in the way of accuracy from either the EFK or the Bar-Sto...the factory barrel is really that good. A ported barrel also won't have much effect as the .45ACP doesn't produce enough gas to activate them to optimal effect.

The best metal guide rod on the market for the SIG is the Grayguns Fat rod.

I really like the G10 Hogue grips already on your gun. I find they they help it point more like a 1911. I've had the Hogue Rubber grips on my SIGs and found that the finger grooves didn't work for me

Ah, good to know about the aftermarket barrels and I am surprised about the exhaust gasses on the 45. I sure would have expected otherwise.

I will look up the fat rod.

I will give it a go with the G10's as you are correct it does feel a lot like a 1911.

Thanks for the input.
