Wife and I went shooting together for the first time in over a year. She stopped shooting once she found out she was pregnant and needed to get some range time. Turns out she was having a hard time with her double actions... she has a KelTec P32, a new-to-her Ruger LCP and a Taurus Slim in 9mm. She was having a hard time with the DA trigger pull and was all over the place on the target. She was starting to get pretty frustrated, so I offered my Colt LW Commander 45 and she shot it like a stone cold pro!

So now we are on the lookout for a small pocket-sized single action pistol, most likely in .380. The Colt Mustang and Sig 238 come to mind. She prefers the look of the Colt over the Sig (makes her Colt fanatic husband proud), and we'd hold out for the new Mustang. (any clue when those are coming out?)

Are there any ideas out there that you can think of and suggest? Small, pocketable SA pistol. Thanks.

I was going to recommend a CZ 75B SA, but I don't believe CZ make a compact in SAO.

She could go with a RAMI and carry it cocked and locked, and just use it's SA pull. I can't think of too many compact semi-auto's that are SAO other than a 1911.

If she shoots single action better, cool, but most of the time someone isn't a cripple and has a problem with normal double-action pulls, it's usually a matter of training and practice and not that they can't rock the DA pull.

NG, I agree with you, but my wife gets frustrated pretty easily if she feels she sucks at something, loses focus, and just does not enjoy her time shooting. She shoots the SA well, and shoots it confidently. To me that's the most you can ask for in a carry gun.

Don't have any idea about the Colt, but a buddy of mine has the SIG, and it's been a trouble free pistol. Much nicer to shoot than my LCP, but of course it's bigger, too.
