Single action revolvers available in 45 ACP?

Trying to find a fun single action revolver in 45LC that can also shoot .45 ACP

I know you can get an aftermarket cylinder for the Ruger Vaquero, but are there other options for guns such as the Taurus Gaucho or USFA? I like the option to shoot 45LC but the cost effectiveness of the 45 ACP

I have a convertable Blackhawk. Great gun.

I have handled and fired a customized Smith and Wesson 625-5 (S&W N-frame double-action revolver) that can fire either shell in the same cylinder. Originally made for .45 Colt, the cylinder face is cut to also accept six .45 ACP rounds in a "full moon" clip (thin sheet metal disk that holds the cartridges by the extractor grooves). The whole thing drops in as one unit, the best speedloader ever. Or, the shooter can load six loose .45 Colt cartridges. The extractor will eject either quite nicely. A really cool gun.

Add an extra .45ACP cylinder from Midway @ $100 and you've got a convertable for well under the price of a Ruger.

Davidson's (galleryofguns.com) offers Ruger New Vaquero convertibles with a 45 Colt and 45 acp cylinder, not aftermarket. They usually have a modest inventory of stainless in both 4 5/8 and 5 1/2 inch barrels and a large inventory of the same in blued.

Your best bet, IMO, is the already mentioned Ruger Blackhawk Convertible. Stronger, actually a bit lighter, adjustable sights. Hard to beat.

The Blackhawks come in the same mentioned barrel lengths but if you're lucky you might find one of a limited run a year or two ago of 7 1/2 inch barreled 45 Convertibles.

Cimarron (an Uberti) also sells convertibles in their Model P and the "Thunderer" line.

I've had a USFA with .45LC and .45 ACP - I think the rodeos are fairly inexpensive (relatively speaking). Great guns, wonderful finish - but yes - true to original you only load 5 chambers and hammer down carry.

i have a Blackhawk convertible 45Colt/45ACP....with the Colt cylinder it's my deer gun this year.....practice with ACP'S as i have plenty 1911's....

the Ruger convertible is one of the best buys on a handgun you get. With the power of the colt round and the amount of acp brass and the price of loaded acp ammo how could you go wrong

Just read in the Handloader magazine that Lipsey's is coming out with a Ruger blackhawk in 45 colt/45 acp. Ruger has made these in the past but this is a special edition like the 44 specials they came out with in 2009 with the steel frame and flat top design.

I believe the flat top 45 convertible has been available for some time in 5 1/2 inch trim. What is newly coming out is a 4 5/8 inch version. Of course, Davidson's has been offering New Vaquero 45 convertibles in both lengths and blue and stainless for some time.

I have a couple of stainless NMBH in .45 Colt that have .45 ACP cylinders. I have had the 45 ACP cylinders modified to headspace .45 AR as well. I find the guns cycle the .45 AR more smoothly than .45 ACP. Although I shoot both, I prefer the .45 AR. I also shoot the same loads in my S&W 625s.

I just picked up one of the TALO birdsheads in 45acp (05152) yesterday for $495. I hope to shoot it Saturday morning.

I have a USFA convertible Double Eagle that I shoot mostly acp through. I shoot a lot of acp in 1911's in IDPA, so I load about 1k a month, and when the brass gets down to its last load I load them for the revolvers and the kids and I burn them up on all the rabid tin cans we have roaming around here. Then the brass goes in the scrap barrel.

They are a LOT of fun.

I have an OLD Vaquero in LC that I would like to add an acp cylinder to. Ruger won't do it for me, and I just can't justify the cost that most of the 'smiths want to supply a cylinder and fit it, not when I have the USFA, and now the TALO Ruger.

Not a SA, but the DA pull is only four pounds. Both Randy Lee customs. S&W 25-2 on top is .45 ACP only, the 625 is .45LC and .45 ACP.

I was pleased. I do some side work for this guy from time to time and he cuts me a deal when I need something. I didn't really need this, but I think he cut me a good deal anyway!

TXSWFAN... Nice pair. I have been after one of those snub 625's in straight acp for quite a while, but I need my left ... uhhhh... leg.... to get around. Years ago I had a Cannon converted 25 like yours with a few other extras, but let it go to keep the ex-wife in school. I did pick up one of the Night Guard 325's... It will do until I can find what I really want in the hands of someone who really wants something that I have.
