I noticed Taurus is going to put out a Single Action Revolver. This company just seems unstopable. How long before they make 1911s? I for one like Taurus, I've had several good guns from them and they seem to offer for less what so many charge extra for.

Now if they could just get off the porting kick on their titanium snubbies . . .

I have a ported 669 (.357 Mag, 6 inch) and the chamber for the comp is a PITA to get patches through. I'd shoot it a lot more if it weren't for that. Previous owner had the action worked over and the single action trigger pull is fabulous and it's painfully accurate.

Even though there are guns I'd rather have I just can't trade it off because it shoots so well and is worth so little.

What they need to do is take that new SAA clone, do it in Titanium with that funky high-gloss blue finish, slap Tritium sights and CF grips on it and call it the "Space Cowboy" :D.

(Hey, *I'd* buy one!!! :p)

You may (or not) remember the color case hardened Trackers they ran off. I knew the Gaucho was coming! The Tauri I have owned were excellent revolvers. The one Taurus/Berreta I owned was good too. I have bet my life on a Taurus 357 Magnum before. I trust them. I just want the 905 to get fixed and back on the market.

Well, they do it to everything else but the rimfire revolvers, so I can just see the porting... and imagine cowboys with ported sixshooters...

Oddly, I considered several Taurus models a few years ago. Their website stated that the models I looked at were also available unported... but they never said where or when! Porting is a deal breaker to me. When I A-B-ed my .454 SRH with a range-mate's RB, I noted no difference in recoil - just a lot more muzzle blast.

Working at the range as a part-time RO, I have seen my share of dysfunctional firearms... and several of them were Taurus - particularly that Millenium series. The 'Trackers' seem a bit better made, IMNSHO. The only broken/jamming S&W and Rugers I remember were semi-auto's, too. I don't know where folks find that steel-cased garbage ammo - it's apparently abundant locally in both 9mm & .40 S&W. I recall one Ti blue 445, I think, in .44 Special. A couple of cylinders full, and it would lock-up. That gun has changed hands several times. I have heard the warranty horror stories as well. I have had to send a one-day from new Ruger Redhawk back home earlier this year for poor QC, too... but it returned as it should have been in a few weeks. A worn S&W was also sent back for work this year by me... the call was on their dime, and it was returned as-new gratis in a few weeks as well. Both companies sent pre-paid labels - great warranty. That is important... as is parts availability.

First step for me is for Taurus to offer a .44/.45 without porting...

Think i would buy one too :D

They could sell it as part of a matched pair.

The other would be a gold-tone snubby 38 with "pimpalicious" white pearl grips.

That way, you get both "The Space Cowboy" and "The Gangster Of Love" :D.

I guess the name of the game for a successful company is to give the customer what he wants! Ugh!

Do a tie-in with some anime and the "Space Cowboy" would be a seller for sure. Hell, I love mixing old and new so I might end up with one too if such a beast ever existed. I wouldn't pay to have it custom made though. :uhoh:

Black Snowman... I've been thinking about it ever since I saw this thread! I'm actually considering it...

I'd want it to be sterile except for the caliber, and to say "See You Space Cowboy..." down the barrel.

I'm a nerd, it's in my blood. :)

Nice ref. You never know where Japan's finest export will pop up...

If anyone would make the "Space Cowboy," seems like it would be Taurus. It's funny to browse their online "Gun Selector." When I imagine their design team, I imagine a room full of hyperactive firearm geeks with thick glasses and ADD. "Now let's do a 9-shot blue titanium moon-clipped wheelgun in .40 S&W with a laser grip and a 5" barrel!"

This is a compliment.

In a world where Smith & Wesson considers blued finishes to be too exotic to bother with anymore, Taurus is refreshing.
