Single Six versus ground hog

I eradicated a big den a few years ago using tomatoes. They wouldn’t take the bait on anything else, but they could not resist a fresh tomato.

Thanks for the tip ! Not being a fresh tomato lover, those aren't kept around my house. I'll keep it in mind if they come back this year. It seems that most of the trouble they cause is in the 3-4 months from March to July (breeding season ??).

I have eaten ground hog. Cooked him in the crock pot like a roast. They are quite tasty!

I tried eating them many years ago. Like you, I cooked two young ones in a crock pot for several hours, along with some onions, carrots, celery and potatoes and appropriate herbs and spices. My wife and I were looking forward to eating grass-fed woodchuck stew. Very disappointed; even the dog balked before she got over her initial inhibitions. Maybe Buckeye groundhogs are a different breed of rodents from the rest of the breed?

I've seen some dandies here in E TN. Tall when they stand up on the side of the road.
