Single Stage Press question

With all the positive comments and smartass remarks:rolleyes:, I will investigate the Lee some more. It's his money he is spending.....

+10 on the Forster (not Forester).

When doing the initial cleaning of the shell holder jaws be watchful as to where the springs fly because you will be looking for them. You may even want to order a couple extras just because you will need them at some point.

Aside from the above minor issue the Co-ax is an outstanding Press that is equal or better than my Obamy Spear Chucker.

heh, yeah, i always misspell it.

anyways, the other nice thing about the design of the co-ax is that it has a really cool built-in priming system on top that primes very well. while the case sizing happens at the point in the throw with the most leverage, the primer seating happens near the point with the least leverage, which means you get a really good feel, about like hand-priming

I'm not partial to any one single stage brand because most of them are pretty decent. But be sure the guy gets one with a good primer catcher. Nothing in this world will drive him more crazy than a press that drops primers all over the place.

Provided you don't mind spending the money ($265), I'd recommend the C-H '444', 4-station. It's solid steel, sets on-top of the bench out of the way, and operates as smooth as silk. You can also add an autoprimer and powder measure. And it has a spent primer catcher.

The older RC presses seem better made. Did they change the production?

Yes. If you have the flat "crinkle" green paint job, that's US made. If you have the glossy "hammer tone" green paint job that's Oriental.
