The land of the Alamo!
I haven't been reloading but about a year, and I am really enjoying it! I've noticed that some powders (or perhaps it's some loads, not necessarily a given powder) generate more smoke than others. No doubt the lube contributes to the amount of smoke. I don't know but what that puff of smoke actually adds to my enjoyment of shooting. Am I the oddball in the group, or do you also like to see some smoke when you pull the bang switch?

Only when I'm using my Hawken .50 front stuffer and the wind is blowing from me to the rest of the shooters on the firing line...(I use black powder. Smells like rotten eggs)...

IME several things can contribute to smoke...

• Fast powders can burn the exposed lead on the aft of the bullet
• Too much lube on lead bullets
• Some powders just normally smoke by themselves
