I have been looking through Davidson's Gallery of Guns. If I understand it correctly you can purchase a firearm and have it shipped to a FFL you select. They go ahead and figure all taxes and shipping fees. I like the idea of doing it all at one place and getting the total out the door price.

Has anyone used Davidson's and what ate your experiecnces?

Are there other sites like this for handgun purchases?

As far as I know you can not get the recieving FFL set up and the final price including all transfer fees and tax.

That is what I am looking for. An online site that sets u the transfer for you and includes all fees for an out the door price.

Does Bud's do this?
 
I feel they are overpriced.
It's no big deal to order from a store like Buds and find out what the transfer fee would be from your local gun shop. IMO it's not worth the additional cost from Davidson's just because they do all the math for you.
 
Davidson's has a list of dealers they work with on their web site. As long as you use one of them you will know the total price when you purchase. You may still owe the tranferring dealer fees but at least you will know exactly what they are

Ah, Gun Broker... purchased two Wilson Combat's from here... The fees for shipping are posted, you will need an FFL on your end to receive the gun. Typically, the fee is $25.00 to receive and register... at least here in Missouri.

I've bought a half dozen or so handguns from them, and I highly recommend them. The last one I purchased was a Charter Arms .38 "Lefty" for my wife, it arrived at the FFL of my choosing in 3 days and was priced $75 lower than the same gun in the local shops case, plus the Davidson's guns have a lifetime warranty.:cool:

Davidsons = Good

I've used them often. Next day pick up and no transfer or shipping fees....BUT I live in the same city as Davidson's and the dealers go over and pick the guns up.

Davidsons doesn't set the purchase price, the dealer does. Here locally there can be quite a price spread between competing gun shops.

Always had good experiences with them.

As to their lifetime warranty, my neighbor had issues with a Ruger, tried to resolve it with a gunsmith at a LGS, they screwed it up worse, so they got him a new gun through the warranty.
 
I live 20 minutes from Davidsons, same distance from J&G. Both meet all my criteria for gun sales over the years. As a matter of fact I have over 10 gunstores in less than 30 minutes drive and firearm ads are in the local classifieds every day of the week. Used or "preowned" I look around for, milsurp and ammo is J&G, new is a local guy who is on the Davidson's list. Best of all possible worlds.

The thing I like Bud's over Davidson's is Davidson's automactically figures in the tax when you pay them. Bud's does not, I just send Bud's the M/O for the firearm and they send it to my transfering FFL/SOT dealer and I pay him the $20 for handgun or $15 for long gun transfer fee and thats it. No tax since he has no store front and does it out of his house and Bud's is not in my residing state.
 
Nobody does it like Davidson's and while my local dealer may be a little lower, the prices I see on the site are very competitive. The difference is that Davidson's is a distributor, Bud's is a dealer. So buying from Davidson's, your local dealer is actually making the sale and must collect sales tax. With Bud's, you are merely doing an interstate purchase and transfer. So there is no sales tax. Well, you're supposed to pay it but we won't get into that.
 
I don't use either. Davidson's and there so called dealer network is stupid freaking high. And I can always beat Bud's pricing.
 
Davidson's MIGHT be a little higher priced than some other dealers, but as stated above, they are a distributor.

The dealers set the price. You buy the gun though a dealer close to you. They ship to the dealer. You pick up.

There are no transfer fees associated with them shipping to the dealer.

Best part is, all firearms sold from Davidsons have a Lifetime Replacement Warranty. According to my account exec, he said that the warranties are registered by serial number, and even though the website states original purchaser, he told me that since it is registered by serial number it doesn't matter who owns it.

You turn it in, they ship you a new firearm the next day. Very cool.

And to be honest, I've found that Davidsons prices are not much higher, if at all, than any of the other distributors I have, on most of their firearms.
 
do not buy a para ordnance

anyone that is thinking of buying a para ordnance make sure you check the gun out before accecpting if from a dealer i bought one and the thumb safty was practicly falling of the gun and would not work at all! very dissapointed with it and had to be sent back. still waiting for it to be fixed or replaced. hopefully davidsons will do it quickly its been almost two weeks and still no gun. hopefully para will start to check their guns before it leaves the factory or their will be alot more dissapointed people!

I have never found them to be higher, usually they beat the local shops price by $50 to $75, and they frequently have sale prices that are even lower.;)

As far as I know you cannot get anyone to do this because they are not going to know what you FFL is going to charge you and I have one FFL in my area that charges you like $30.00 transfer fee and then a tax of some sort on top of that and some other kind of little bull crap fee so when all i ssaid and done if you use them you may be paying as much as a $100.00 or so just for them to do the paper work for oyu. Since the seller cannot forsee all these facyors I would doubt any of them will offer you something like this.

Actually after a few calls to davidson's they do just that. The only thing is, you have to choose from a list of FFL that have set up agreements with. So you can't use any FFL in your area.

For example there are 5 Gun stores (not counting big box sportsman's wharehouse) in the county I live in. 2 are listed with davidson. If I order through them they handle everything and the price they give me is the final price but I have to use one of those 2 stores.

There are others within a 100 mile drive of me that actually had lower prices, but not after I pay for gas in my dodge truck
 
Davidson's is really nice if you want a specific gun that you can't find at your LGS.

Just look it up at your leisure, click the buy button and pick it up a few days later at a LGS. I have a Davidson's dealer about 1/2 mile from me. Almost too convienient.
 
I have used Davidson's Gallery of Guns for years with good success. I typically get guns from them that are limited editions or unlikely to be stocked by a local dealer. My Volquartsen .22 rifle was purchased through Davidson's as was my six-inch S&W M952. Those are guns not likely to be found in stock anywhere, and the Gallery of Guns process is hassle-free. Plus, my local FFL gets to make a little money which helps keep him in business. That works for me.

The really nice plus about guns purchased through Davidson's is the lifetime warranty. I only had to use it once on an Ithaca Deerslayer Storm, whose action bar failed, after Ithaca went under. I did not get an Ithaca back (as there were none to be had), but I ended up with a very nice Wingmaster. Hard to beat that.
