SKS at Palmetto

Man, those rifles have seen better days. And they're probably going to be $400 a piece after shipping and FFL.

SKSes are rare online so I guess it's good that there's more, but wow. A couple years ago, I bought a factory 26 blade bayonet model in that kind of condition for $280 locally.

Not so rare around these parts. I think there's a few on the Kansas Armslist.
They'll be hit&miss here too.

You can go to a show where it seems all the extra SKSs in the land have congregated and it'll go one of two ways; either the prices drop hourly - or - everyone just puts them away for another day.

One show last year the Yugos were inexplicably going for under 300 in rapid fashion. Couldn't give a Chinese away!

I see the CZ52 and TT33 market bounce around like that from time to time too.

Todd.

I'd like to buy one, but can't justify it for that price. The ship has sailed on affordable SKS's, and unless you have a specific reason for really wanting one, I would pass.

As of March 9 "temporarily out of stock". I don't know how many they sold through, but that expression makes it sound as if they plan to have more.

There are folks out there who like guns that wear a bit of their history. The type 56 seems like a robust design, but only you can determine what it's worth to you. I am just passing on the information. :D

I just bought a really nice Norinco Model 59, with a very clean stock, and blued barrel and receiver from Gun Broker for $400.00, the only problem I see is it has a dog from every town as far as serial numbers go, nothing matching. It does have a very clean barrel with sharp lands and grooves. As far as the serial numbers go I could care less, as I bought it to be a shooter. I've got an AK-47 that I paid $800.00 for that has all the serial numbers matching, and that was made in Russia at the Ishmash factory. Now that rifle is extremely accurate, however it should be for what I paid for it, 2+years ago.

Do people not realize that guns were covered in cosmoline decades ago?

I'd be more concerned about the model you get upon delivery because you're basically buying it sight unseen like Classic or AIM. IDK how well PSA is in getting people a good SKS, but my experience with AIM and others with Classic tells me not to bother on that alone and stick to your lgs, gun show, armslist, or gunbroker.

Isn't it interesting to think that some day, some guy might proudly say:

"Yup, back in 2020 I only paid $350 for this one!"

Remembering that EVERY *now* will eventually be someone's "good ol' days".

Todd.
Well, back in 2007 when I bought my WASR that came with 3 mags, pouch, and bayonet for $400 those were good days as an AK that's not a modern produced piece of cast/MIM junk is going for $700 minimum.

These SKS' are all superior to any current or modern produced AK that are generally going for $500 to $600, so to say that the more durable and battle proven Chinese SKS' aren't going to be heading to $600 is short sighted.

Thanks for the link. It states that they can be imported because they were stored in a neutral country for the last 20 years but doesn't say what country. That's my only question, as I'm not in the market for an SKS. Just curious as to where they are coming from.
