SKS full auto plans on ebay

For amusement only?

As I understand it, any attempt to do this will get you a bunk in a federal prison.

Even possessing the plans with the gun can get you in trouble, can't it?

Am I wrong about that?

It's legal unless you actually do the conversion. Having the plans is protected by the 1st Amendment and you can find books on conversions for many guns at bookstores on the internet.

Even disregarding the possible extended vacation at Club Fed, I don't believe that a SKS rifle's timing allows it be safely fired full auto... it could fire out of battery.

Dangerous, and illegal.

If you have the plans and parts and a SKS agent smuckatelli could argue for constructive possession of a MG. Just having the plans by themselves isn't a crime.

1st, how come the BATF can define owning certain parts "Constructive Intent" but not do the same when owning a particular firearm with the plans to make said firearm an illegal full auto?

2nd, it is my understanding most full auto conversions are kind of hack jobs that simply allow a sort of slamfire to occur which is very dangerous to the shooter.

3rd, As far as I am concerend I follow my gun laws to a fine point. So the words full auto and illegal in the same sentence tends to give me chills. I will stay nice and legal and not go to the graybar men's singles club thank you very much. Since I hear tell the ATF tends to frown on this kind of tinkering :D

Cslinger,

Your trying to apply rational thinking to a federal agency and laws. It wont work. Give it up before you hurt yourself.:D

Hmm, I wonder if I am going to the range and have my SKS with me and a nickel in my pocket at the same time, if I can be put away for 10 years for constructive intent...

:what:

A SKS can be fired full auto. I remember seeing a video on the internet of a guy who converted one and filmed it firing. The site (which I can't remember the name) sold plans on how to do the conversion which included simply placing a piece of metal into the trigger mechanism. The video showed the guy with a SKS and a HUGE magazine. He emptied the mag in a matter of seconds. If I can find it I will post a link.

The SKS has a safety sear/disconnector to prevent out of battery discharges.

Hks are just as easy, but felonies aren't necessarily difficult to commit.

a nickel huh?

Nah, I probably don't want to know. Well yes I do, but really I don't. Yes, not knowing is better. Or is it?

To know or not to know, that is the question!

I use to have a copy of the CHI COM SKS manual.
It showed the full auto conversion.
The SKS was designed to be easily converted to full auto if need be.
With the AK being so successful I doubt if there was ever a need.

I've seen videos of a guy bump firing an SKS. Granted, a real full auto SKS would fire much faster, but it's still pretty neat to watch.
