does anyone remember a pre ban adapter for the sks, that hooked in to the magazine well like the detachable mags do ,but for the purpose of using a k mags?seems to me shotgun news ran a few ads for them just before the ban in '94.if so ,is there any around yet?could they be making them again?

thanks,krieghund,for the welcome!

Yeah,i know the ban is over:p but as far as a no longer being an issue ,the boomarang is on it's way back as of the the last postal shooting...still, the idea on that sks adapter would be sweet.Could retro-fit a rig like that though if i could get a version of the mag release to work.

Have you had an opprtunity to compare an AK mag and the standard SKS mag well? You'd have to remove material to from the stock and reciever to make it work. There's also a bit of welding required to "beef up" the reciever in at least one spot.

I've got the plans around here somewhere for the conversion, but it's really not worth the effort. If you're really wanting a rifle that'll accept AK mags, buy a D model or sell it and buy an AK.

The 94 ban expired in 2004. It is no longer an issue. So yes, they can make them again.

Sorry, but the ban on adapting a SKS to use AK magazines is very much in place. It is known as 922(r). It can be only bypassed by playing ATF's "parts count" game. It's easier to just by an AK if you want 30 round magazines.

Yah,hey,i think you guy's are right

buy a ak instead,ok it's been on my list for a while, started my ar flattop varmit project with a lower receiver last month so that will be good for now,i know there is a lot of ak variants out there. So who's got the best rig,i'd like something that i could put a c.a.r.buttstock and a scout mount w\reflex site and hk mp5 front handgrip.
