I bought a Muzzle break from tapco for my sks but it doesnt use all of the treads that the GL did I didnt know if this was normal or what

im sure its fine. i would take it off and take a wire brush to the threads to make sure they are clean then reinstall it. if not then call it good and enjoy. i just installed a AK style the other day but mine is a pin on and i had to spend about 2 hours with a dremel to get it to fit.

I had to drill the pin out of the GL to get it out I also have another problem I installed the T-6 furniture and a scope mount and scope and a twenty round clip and now it will not feed rounds i have to hand cycle them after every shot even if I take the clip out and single feed them it still will not eject the spent shell. thanks for the help so far

The feeding problem is almost certainly due to the aftermarket mag. Put your stock 10-rounder back in and I betcha it'll go away. If you feel as though you can't live without more mag capacity, be prepared to do some serious fiddling in the pursuit of reliable function. You might also want to make sure that all of your mods stay Sec. 922r compliant and don't run you afoul of any state or local laws. There are some strange ones out there.

If you have the tapco mag in a yugo you may need to widen the mag well slightly to get it to seat properly.

Jpjeeper, hate to say it but you got sucked into buying a bunch of stuff that won't work on your SKS.

With a couple model exceptions, the SKS was never designed to use detatchable magazines. Nor does it have a decent base to mount a scope. People try and 'tacticool' their SKS's only to find it's much harder to do so than they initially thought.

If you want to 'accessorize' a 7.62x39 rifle, sell the SKS and get something like an AK or Saiga. I did, haven't looked back.

BTW if you have a Yugo SKS and it's not ejecting the handfed round, your gas valve may be the culprit. Either it's in the 'off' position for single shot firing or it's corroded, a common problem.

Really might want to check 922r if your going play
with detachable mags. Even more so takeing a "C&R"
gun and moding it.
Just some food for thought. Do what you want,it's America!!!!
Start putting a tapco folder w/pg,30 rd detachable mag, better
start counting!!! :)

Hey mainmech I live in central In. you wouldn't happen to have a link that I could look the 922r would ya?

Yugo's have gas tube problems a lot of the time as well. Sometimes it can take some work to get them to feed properly. I had issues from day one with mine. I bought the Tapco gas rail and all other Tapco internals that I could so that I could do the 30 round mag conversion. It did not help, but the paper clip fix did, till I cut the barrel down, then I had to buy a replacement gas valve and that took care of it. I like the AR-15 style muzzle brake dispatch, I have the same one, did you get it from ricksmuzzlebreaksandstuff?

dispatch55126- I have that same brake on my sks I inherited from my dada. While they are nice looking as far as brakes go, my problem is opposite of a lot of people putting brakes on thier sks, I cant get the darn thing off! He put it on a totally mint Russian 1954 Izzy, and I have tried to get it off, as I want the gun as my "show piece" of sorts for the sks, but its sure on there good.....

Yep, the price was good and fit great. My one complaint would be the powdercoating has too much gray in it, doesn't quite match the barrel.
