Stay with jacketed bullets. these rifles were designed for use with jackets and will perform best. I would not be surprised if the rifling was polygonal and if not the twist is chosen for use with jackets. Needles to say there is a lot of inexpensive jacketed ammo out there. My own SKS is accurate with both wolf and the various Barnaul loads (the bears). That is 1 1/2 to 2 inches at 50 yards. I will try my own reloads using Hornady 123 sps and of course there is domestic ammo too. I have it all. have fun.
