SKS sight

The rear sight on my SKS fell off while shooting looking at youtube videos it appears the sight is held in place by a small plate with a spring under. I don't seem to have that. Exploded drawings don't show the parts of the rear sight. Am I correct? Does anyone have exploded drawing or knowledge of the sight and where to get individual parts?

That’s going to be a fun thing to figure out. First off you need to figure out where it was made. There may be some differences in variants. Both in design and certainly on tolerances.

I think it may have been the above link. It’s Chinese specific but mine is a Norc and so was the one I had years ago.

The front of the sight is pinned; there is a captive spring underneath it. It's virtually the same sight as is on the AK47.

or a tech sight - this really helped mine as far as being able to shoot accurately, as long as being completely original isn't an issue for you
