Can anyone explain how to use the stripper clips . I'm a bit confused . They don't seem to load by pushing the clip down through the bolt where the slot is . Thanks the F.N.G.

Place the clip in the guide and then push the rounds down. The rounds will slide downward and load into the magazine while the stripper clip stays where it is. Once all rounds have moved off the clip, remove and discard/put aside.

One more piece of un-solicited advise. Make sure you clean the bolt and firing pin channel very well and keep it clean. You should be able to shake the bolt and hear the firing pin moving back and forth. Not doing so could result in a slam fire which is for all intents and purposes a very dangerous form of fully automatic fire.

If you cannot disassemble the bolt, use brake or carb cleaner as that will eat just about anything in there, then lube.

Where are you from in Maryland? I grew up in and around Glen Burnie/Pasadena/Severna Park/etc.

I can say that not all of the clips work very well.
I've got some "made in china"ones, they suck(from Tapco),
I've got some from Norinco ammo(work sweet!!!)
Also have some from the Yugo surp that use to be around,
they work great as well.
I have found that if you sit(in front of the "tube") and run an empty
case up and down the clip a few 100 times,it does help ALOT!!!!!

You might try pulling up a bit on the nose of the top round, and pushing on the bottom of that same topmost round.

I'm in Howard County , Savage Area
Do you know of any good ranges in the area outdoor or indoor ?
Thanks for the help with the clips yeah I already took it apart and cleaned the rifle when I first bought it someone had removed all the cosmo but it looked really dirty. the place I bought it said it had never been fired but I don't know about that from the condition of everything . Thanks everyone

Is Savage between 216 and 32? I'm an expert on southern Howard County, but don't know anything east of Scaggsville or north of Laurel very well at all.

The Isaac Walton league I belong to (in Damascus) has 50/100 yard rifle ranges and pistol ranges with targets movable from 10-50 yards. Outdoor, with covered shooting area. Also has a trap range and several skeet yards. Yearly dues to become a member are the only fees; at the Damascus location, some environmental work (trash pickup on roads, tree planting, etc.. usually on weekends) is also required the first year.

The Mt Airy Walton League has, I hear, 200 yard rifle range I hear. Also supposed to have a good trap-shooting schedule.

The Carroll County landfill has the Hap Baker shooting range, but I've never been there; they had a major fire last February and I'm pretty sure the rifle ranges are still closed - but the handgun range might be open.
