Hey folks, I've got a set of Tech Sights on my SKS, and while it has improved my accuracy, I'm just not comfortable with them.

The main issue I'm having is that the SKS front sight hood is interfering with my sight picture. My brain kind of wants to line up the circle of the front post hood with the circle of the rear sight aperture.... but I fight that desire and put the tip of thin target sight blade in the center. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any reason for me not to adjust the site so that I can aim by lining up the circles?

Another thing is that the aperture is little bit small for my taste... it makes seeing in anything close to low light very difficult. I also can't really see the bright orange dot I painted on my front site tip. Has anyone drilled one of these out before? I don't think Tech Sight sells bigger apertures...

Hi, Thats an issue of you training yourself and learning your sites. Not much can be done about that. As far as the front site goes, once you have your battle sight zero set, paint the edge of the front site post facing you instead of the top. Love them SKS's.....cheap, fun and dependable!:)

I put a Williams Firesight in the front and used the adjustable TechSight in the rear. that helped with the sight picture in low light, and gives a clear object on which to focus.

I have my whole front post painted and that makes it easy to see in any light. I used a white as a base coat and then flourescent orange on top.

You should be able to easily get a replacement rear aperture from Tech Sights, so drilling the hole larger shouldn't be that big of a deal, I'm just guessing at that though.

Also, are you using a 6 o'clock hold with the post, or are you using a bullseye hold? I found apertures sights work best, for me, with the 6 position.

I'm pretty sure the tech sight is built so that you can replace the aperture with one thats built for any other rifle. M1 or AR. They state on the website that you can replace the aperture for National Match or with others...
