So I was fooling around with my Frankengauge (pieced together Mossberg 500AT) and noticed that I could slam fire it. This is not typical of other Mossberg shotguns AFAIK. I know I can not do this on my Mav88. This is not an intentional modification. I've done some investigating, and I believe the trigger reset is the problem here. I would like to get this fixed because I might sell it, but won't as long as it isn't functioning 100% properly.

Have you done a full strip and cleaning? It could be as simple as something dirty and stuck.

I did a full breakdown and clean when I bought it last summer. It's only been at the range once since then. Furthermore, I can cycle the action with the hammer back without operating the slide release.
