Some people have a sleepytime tea like chamomile or jasmine prior to slumber to help in getting some ZZZZZs. Does anyone load different ammo at home before slumber or whatnot? While a different gun may be optimal for home defense I only possess two at the moment, a Ruger LCR in 327 and an Uberti 1860 army. The LCR is the EDC and nightstand gun(although the 1860 is kept at home capped, loaded and accessible : ) ). Before going to work or outside it gets 327, first 3 Buffalo Bore 100gr hp and second 3 BB 130gr keith hardcast. Now then, I sure as taco poops don't want to ever fire 327 indoors without hearing protection, so I try to remember to load 32H&R BB 100gr hp after I get home from work late before going to bed. For me, it's kind ov like a ritual akin to some people having a sleepytime tea before hitting the sack. The correlation has additional import in that ammo boxes may be similar in size and shape to tea boxes. I may be alone in finding this relation a bit comical, but regardless, does anyone else have sleepytime ammo they load if one's EDC is the same as hir nightstand weapon?

Sleepytime bullets would be the 38 cal. 158 gr. hard cast SWC's loaded to +P levels in .38 Spl. brass that get put into the 4" S&W 686 when it's on "home defense" duty. It would be bad enough touching one of those off indoors but a lot better than 357 Mag. loads indoors.

I'm not really sure I understand the question. I guess before I go to sleep they would be 9mm Speer Gold Dot 124 grain as that is what's in my home defense pistol, and I check to be sure of a round in the chamber and a full magazine is in the pistol. These are my sleeptime bullets.

I have a .327 (LCR) that pulls full time duty on my nightstand. I use a mix of .32 H&R Magnum 80 gr Hornady Critical Defense and 115 gr Gold Dot in .327. Except when I take it to the range it never leaves the nightstand. Hope I never have to use it, or any other firearm, indoors.

I'm reading it as "do you use a "less-boomier" round for nighttime home defense than what you carry out and about, due to concerns about being indoors, in the dark, without hearing protection?"

As for me, I've considered switching guns, not ammo, but never did it because the "boomiest" round I typically carry is 9mm Luger, anyway. Having recently acquired a couple of .45 autos, though, I might actually "step up" instead. Being a lower-pressure round, the .45 might actually be a bit quieter.

I rely on Federal 150gr HST for my 9x19 handgun needs. Lower velocity & less flash makes it particularly good for HD use.

No. Accept that you will experience pain and some hearing damage when/if you discharge a weapon indoors without hearing protection.
