I love my SR9 and have never had an issue whatsoever regardless of the ammo used. But then I screwed up. Rather than use the slide release button, I mistakenly pulled back on the slide to release it. It released only about a half inch where it normally would when using the button. Now it will only go back into place with a gentle tap. It fires a round and then sticks open.

I took it home, tore it apart and cleaned it from top to bottom and ensured to grease the rails. But the results are the same. And it doesn't matter if it has a magazine in it or not. The slide just won't go back into place without nudging it making it a one shot gun now.

Any ideas on what the heck I did to it? Or should I just go back to Ruger?

Thanks gang:confused:

Are you getting the same result with no ammo in the gun? If so check the ejector. If not you may need to polish the feed ramp.

Double check to make sure recoil spring is in the correct way and is clean, make sure your rails are straight with all gaps equal, and make sure your trigger is properly resetting. If after all of this you are still having a problem, then you probably broke your gun down incorrectly by not depressing the ejector before removing the slide. If you felt resistance and you still forced it, you probably bent the transfer bar upwards causing it to rub the slide. If this is the case, send it back to ruger.

It may just be tight, how many rounds thru it? mabe just needs some break in time. I had a Para that did the same thing for the 1st 100 rounds, but worked itself out. I had a SR9 but never experienced that though.
