I have a DPMS AP4 .308. I will be carrying it hunting elk and deer. I often walk 20 miles in a day; therefore I need something comfortable. I would also like to be able to change the position of the weapon once in a while without much hassle.

Criteria:
1. Probably 3 point sling but open to others. (Single point slings seem great for being "ready" but not so great for long hikes with a heavy weapon.
2. Wide straps. Slight padding would be nice but not necessary.
3. I plan to carry it primarily in the "ready" position but would like option to shoulder it, or some other position to give other positions a break.
4. I am a lefty. So if that matters, let me know.

In looking at the picture of their 3 point sling, I can't tell that it actually connects to the forend of the weapon. I assume since it is a 3 point sling. Can you tell me? Are their three point slings like other 3 point slings (ie: connects to the rifle at the stock and the foregrip)

I have Blue Force Gear's Vicker's Combat Applications Sling (VCAS) on all my ARs. It's a two-point sling that provides the versatility of a three-point sling. On my 20" AR, I attach it to the rifle using a Daniel Defense A2 Burnsed Loop (rear) and a GG&G Standard Sling-Thing (front). On my M4's I attach it to the buttstock (MagPul CTR) and a GG&G Sling-Thing (front).

I'm very satisfied with the VCAS. My HD shotgun is also configured to accept one, although I install the sling for training classes only.

Good luck with your quest!

I don't know about the 3 point slings Zahal sells, I've only bought the 2 point type. The metal hardware 2 point slings are very tough and comfortable too. BSW

I have a Specter SOP. Very happy with it. The "extra" strap that's against the receiver is able to move freely, and is held further away from the gun than just the distance of the rear mount, so it's much less likely to interfere with any controls, especially with a "ribbon" rear mount. Also makes it easier to use as a 2-point than most other 3-point designs.

Here's a video I found on Youtube detailing how to use the SOP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVGbYG2_u4I

I use the Specter rear "ribbon," and an M203-style front swivel.
