Took my Nikon J1 out to the range today to play with its slow-motion capabilities and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't a very expensive camera so the resolution isnt top notch but it was good enough to notice interesting things.

After reviewing the footage I noticed alot of things that happen too quick to see normally. Subtle flinches, reaction times, recoil impulses and my favorite (as seen in the first clip) why it sucks to shoot next to muzzle breaks.

If you have any questions please ask.

A Cagney & Lacey grip is not too good at controlling recoil

Wee little hands/arms for a rather bulky 45. Weight was the problem too. The Bersa fits perfectly but wasnt brought with this time.

Few years back I did some slo-mo videos of folks using my .460 S&W. Watching the recoil transfer down the length of their arm, the expressions on their faces and the amount of flinch, even when they hit the empty chamber they didn't know about, was truly enlightening.:D

Which were the 1200 frames per second?

What is the resolution at 1200 fps?

I've got a Casio that was one of the first "cheap" cameras with 1200 fps but the resolution is just a narrow strip -- still I've found it useful to troubleshoot extraction/ejection failures.

Might be time for a camera upgrade.

I had fun with mine doing some "blow-back" Airsoft footage where you can see the recoil is downward because the mass of the slide is so much more than the mass of the plastic BB :)
