I carry my thp 22lr when I go backpacking. I don't want the weight of anything larger and if small game presents itself then I have fresh meat for dinner. I always laugh when people tell me they carry a 9mm backpacking. Makes me wonder how many six or seven day trips they have been on. When weight counts a small 22lr pistol and 50rnds can't be beat.
