And a 5K limit. With hazmat and shipping, ordering 5K works out to about $38 per 1K.
I've ordered 10K through Graf's just recently and the per 1K cost is under $30. Of course they're on backorder, but I have 6K of Wolf primers to tide me over, with a nearly 95% ignition rate
95%? Seems pretty high to me. To the point of there being an outside factor. Maybe something happened to that lot of primers in transit, or in storage, or something in the reloading cycle. I had a buddy the ruined some primers priming on the press with an overlubed press. Anything can happen.
I just started into my second batch of 5000 Wolf SP primers. While they are NOT my favorite, I have had precisely one FTF. I just keep them out of light strikers - my LCP and a few other striker-fired pistols.
Drop them in a 1911 or a CZ (where most of my wolf primers go) and you'll have no issues - unless you got a bad batch.
5% ignition rate ??? I hope he is off a little in his math. For me that would be over 100 failures during matches alone. 1 failure in 5000 is acceptable. In my last 5 or 10 thousand reloads I have not had a single failure that I can blame on the primers.
5% failure rate. Wolf has acknowledged the problem and is working on a solution. In the interim, they've refunded the unused portion of my primers (wish I'd reported the problem before I fired off the first 2-3K). They've also warned me not to buy any more, at least right away, since I can expect to see a recurrence of the issue.
