I just got some Winchester NT and some Federal brass that has small primer pockets. My references do not have any data for loading using small pistol primers with their loads.
I have been loading with No 300 Large Pistol Primers by CCI. Can I use the same loads with No. 550 Small Pistol Primers by CCI?

I havent really noticed a difference when loading mine spp cases with spp's.
im sure i could tell over a chronograph, but i think its negligible enough.

I get no discernible difference between the same loads using LP primers as opposed to SP primers.

no difference, they all go bang. The brass seems to be a little cheaper because folks generally prefer LPP.

To what I have read, Yes. You can use Small Pistol Primers CCI 500.
How ever, Do not use Small Pistol Magnum Primers CCI 550.
Make sure you don't mix that up. It may cause a bit of a problem....

CCI300 primers are standard primers and CCI550 primers are magnum primers. While you can use magnum primers in the 45 Auto you will have to work up your load over again because of the difference. (as usual when you change components) If you were to use CCI500 primers which are also standard primers and your charge weights are not at the Max you could probably substitute the CCI500 primer in the recipe that uses a CCI300 primer without much of a charge change if any. (especially if your charge weight is somewhere near the middle of the weight range or lighter)

I haven't used any of the small primer brass yet but from everything I've heard there is no difference in performance between the two...
