A man showed up at my business this morning that a friend sent this way. Said he needed small rifle primers bad. I asked if they were to shoot or put back. He said they were for putting back as he had never reloaded but had ordered a Dillon press set up in .223 and was looking for components just in case he had to resort to reloading. I told him I did but didn't really want to sell as would have to replace. He said didn't care what they cost and I popped off 75.00 per thousand thinking he would walk away. His only question after that was how many could he have. I was stunned. Since everyone has been in panic mode I have been picking up what I could at the gougers price plus on my monthly shipment my dealer gets me I had asked for all small rifles and they actually came in. I sold the man 10,000 and you would have thought I was selling him gold for 75.00 an ounce. Hated to see that many primers go into a hoard that will probably never be used but at that price I had to let him hold them. I get 5,000 per month as my part of a co-op group that buys 25k a month. When called my dealer said he could get me a double order for next month and make all smalls again. Luckily my group and a couple of others have been buying in quantity so long from the same person, his distributor can order months ahead to keep him stocked for all his customers. His purchase will allow me to replace them all at current price and keep half his money toward my next powder purchase.
